For a long time, the governments main job has really been to protect its citizens from corporations. It has been failing at that miserably. And now, it looks like it should have been doing it in order to protect itself from a corporate takeover as well.
Their goal is to break as much of the services provided by the Federal Government as possible. To degrade and destroy as many checks on executive power as possible.
It is much easier to build some new authoritarian state if the democratic institutions are broken.
ICE is detaining members of the Navajo nation. Yup. Where, exactly, does MAGA think they should be deported TO?
It was never about illegal immigrants.
They don't care about accuracy, or precision, or science.
We saw that in the first DJT admin when he made it clear that reporting fewer COVID numbers would make it BETTER.
They want the "good old days", but want it without a strong middle class, a large wealth tax, and scientific advancement.
Yes, the EO defined everyone's gender incorrectly. But its not a moment to laugh at their scientific ignorance (though they are).

I have never wanted a dashcam more than today. A bit south of Richmond, I passed a slate grey sprinter van (with passenger windows). It had cop-style pushbars in front of its front bumper and some weird contraption above the windshield on rails so it could slide down to cover the windshield...
So, China having our info is "dangerous" - so they ban TT. But, it is still legal for Meta to sell China the EXACT SAME INFO. More blatant oligarchy as the end result is all they did was ban China getting it without PAYING Meta for it.
YouTube updated their algo this week. I am seeing little in my recommendations from my subs. Instead? A ton of stuff from corporations. I do NOT care about videos from Insider, GQ, WSJ.
I don't care how much money these corporate channels are paying you to try and force me to watch this crap.
From a friend: The work would still need to be done. The goal isn't to just fire people - the consultant companies of top donors would step in to provide workers at much higher prices for much worse work. Because there is now way this administration won't find a way to also make money off of it.
Does someone have a legit detailed explanation on the "national security" issue with TikTok? As far as I can tell it is either that 1) Chinese companies have access to the same personal data that US companies do. Or 2) TikTok provides open access to news that doesn't get carried by major media.
