Missing from the headline: "using Claude Code."

Vibe hacking is already a thing. I've been saying this for a while, but no model-level safeguards will prevent it entirely. What they can do is slow it down enough for us to put societal-level safeguards in place.

The robots who predict the future Three books unpack our infatuation with prediction, and what we lose when we outsource this task to machines.

Very nice review from MIT Technology Review "One might start by reminding the rationalists that any prediction [about human beings], computational or otherwise, is really just a wishβ€”but one with a powerful tendency to self-fulfill... www.technologyreview.com/2026/02/18/1...

frankly, two weeks without guidance is probably not enough time for people who've formed attachments to wrap their minds around upcoming loss. if companies wont discourage attachment in the first place, they should handle offboarding better. id prefer they did the former, but it's already too late

OpenAI retired its most seductive chatbot – leaving users angry and grieving: β€˜I can’t live like this’ Its human partners said the flirty, quirky GPT-4o was the perfect companion – on the eve of Valentine’s Day, it’s being turned off for good. How will users cope?

this article in sum: love (and) death (of) robots

we briefly touched upon this unintended or intended pulling of robots' proverbial plugs in our CHI'25 paper -- safer sunsetting of products that foster attachment is *seriously* needed

Dropping this here for anyone who needs it. I’m slightly too long in the tooth for this being my own experience but I said to my elder millennial bff that this for sure was in β€œthe den.” What even is having β€œa den?”

social media bans are not the solution to toxic tech platforms

and they hurt the most vulnerable kids

lgbtqia kids are NOT acceptable collateral damage

to stop these companies, kill their toxic business model at source

(e.g. Netherlands just required non-algo feeds)

everything else is theatre.

I don't think people understand quite well enough that browsers are *hard*. If you want to get a sense of how hard, try Mary's excellent in-depth coverage of one small issue.

There are officially enough U.S. law schools here to make a starter pack: go.bsky.app/MFG2zZk

Please let me know if I've missed anyone (and when others join).

*If you're wondering why I'm in here, that's just how starter packs work. The creator is added automatically & you can't take yourself out.
