I think Eli Finkel had data showing that people rely more on their romantic partners and less on their family and friends now more that ever. I imagine some of this trend may also be outsourcing to commercial avenues too.

Okay the black one sits on a table (by Audio Technica) but it may be directional but it is enough to pick up multiple voices and we use this for dyads sitting on a couch. The white one (by Clear One) hangs from our ceiling as is not directional and we use this for kids and parents in a room.

One of them was purchased as part of a broader Biopac package and we have another one too that we bought independently… I’ll check when I’m in next and get back to you.

Cheap and easy version is Zoom recording. But get a non-directional mic so it picks up everyone in the group (rather than a unidirectional mic).
