The rain fell as only it can in Lancashire, but failed to dampen spirits as @manchesterbirder.bsky.social and I birded the Southport marshes & Martin Mere. Snow Goose, RN Duck, waders galore, pink feet & raptors all enjoyed in good company. Carl did so well with his camera in poor light ! #ukbirding

A great age πŸ‘
A Redpoll caught on 17/10/25 at Cannock Chase, Staffs was already wearing a ring and we’ve just learned it was first ringed on 17/10/2020, exactly 5 years earlier 275km (170m) at Icklesham, Sussex
These little birds never stop surprising us! 🐦✨

A comparison of Hume’s Leaf Warbler (Wells Woods), left, and Yellow-browed Warbler (Holkham), right, from the last two days. Subtle but distinctive differences between these two similar Phylloscopus species supported by their quite different calls. #NorfolkBirding

A nice end to what had been a fairly quiet walk around Warham Greens when I got back to North Point and in very quick succession a Yellow-browed Warbler was quickly upstaged by a calling Dusky Warbler #NorfolkBirding #UKBirding

Great to catch another #Firecrest yesterday amongst a nice selection of autumn species during a garden ringing session. The 6th #Treecreeper of the year was particularly notable for the site, I’m usually lucky if I get 1 here per year! #birdringing #GowerBirds @gowerbirds.bsky.social

The Olive-backed Pipit showed well at South Gare today. 3rd new Pipit of year and #270 of year. First year I’ve counted from 1st Jan & wanted to get to UK #300 by end of 2025. I now have 1 to go, this beautiful Pipit was UK #299. #ukbirding #birds #pipits

The Barred Warbler at Landguard was mostly true to type, skulking in thick privet bushes but did show very well occasionally. The Pallas's Warbler was very elusive but I did eventually manage to catch up with it. #suffolkbirding #ukbirds

Another incredible Redpoll recovery! πŸ”
One of our Cannock Chase birds was already ringed first tagged on 29/07/23 in Stonehaugh, Northumberland, 258 km away πŸ—ΊοΈ
Re-caught by us on 18/10/25, helping build a fantastic picture of Redpoll movements across the UK! 🐦✨

...also on the ringing front: we've received notification of a fantastic recovery of a Firecrest ringed here last October that was controlled a few days ago by a ringer in the Czech Republic - the first movement of a UK-ringed Firecrest to the Czech Republic or indeed to anywhere in central Europe

Lapland Bunting, Dunwich yesterday. A scarce migrant through Suffolk (rarely over winters), Lapland Bunting numbers have varied from 6-21 (av. 11) in the county over the past 10 years and is now hard to connect with, so it was nice to find this #ukbirding #suffolkbirding
