Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..
Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.
This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.
44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.
Absolutely insupportable. Labour have a massive majority. It’s a hugely popular issue. To fail to act would be a dereliction of historic proportions, and utterly inexplicable.
I think that every year. reasons, cost, mechanical v craft skill, convenience, time & lack of perception of the value of hedges both as wildlife corridors, food banks, source of local seed etc and as working boundaries for fields, contributor to reducing soil erosion etc.
Great meet-ups happen in unexpected places.
Absolutely. Too many are cut down for no reason at all.
The Hollies. And good to see and older tree left standing for the next stage of its life (and death) and the habitat it provides.
Awe-inspiring night time spectacle courtesy of the sun. Nature we can't ignore. #Northernlights #skywatch
Devastating floods have hit Portugal, Spain & Morocco in the past days, causing loss of life & billions of Euros in damages.
How does climate change impact the flood risks from rain, rivers & rising seas?

Just love this post
Climate change will inevitably lead to mass migration & political instability as people vie for space & resources. Some people stigmatising migrants are those actively encouraging choices exacerbating the situation, while pouring scorn on tech & policies which could mitigate or prepare for change.
Mowing a grass path and walking along it while the plants around grow is one of life's great pleasures.
Fabulous tonight.
Hard to believe this is America. I grew up thinking it was a place that gave others hope.
UK Universities cut 13,300 jobs, paid £300m+ in redundancy.
Economic contribution of the HE sector, £265bn.
Systematically destroyed by govts - foreign students not welcome, cut real-term grants, fees, students burdened with debts, low staff pay/morale.
Govt want skilled labour.

World cup shambles ahead.
The sky has all its paints out tonight. Oh for days when it is the only thing hanging over us.
Mates tail Hippuris vulgaris some above and some below the frozen surface of a pond.
I lifted most of the plants out of my container pond before it froze this year but I left some of the mare's tail behind, Hippuris vulgaris is a good oxygenating plant and you can see how the air bubbles it has breathed into the water have been caught in the ice 🌱

Did not know about Yorkshire Teabags- ta. Mini polytunnel maybe. Warms up a raised or two a treat.
It’s #winter. The buzzing has stopped - mostly.
So what’s happened to all the #bees?
Let me explain.
Please #repost this thread.
Don’t just like/look.
It literally takes you a second. Costs you nothing.
Bees are in trouble and need you good people to help.
Thank you.

#Positivity Alert. Seems fantastic #community initiative to save a rare #organic farm and community asset. Celebrate the New Year perhaps with a small, donation or share purchase for a new beginning and for a greenfield site to stay green.

Beautiful
No pictures unfortunately but what worked best for us was one or two old windows for the top, set at an angle. Supported on a solid frame of recycled timber, higher at the back than the front, with swing up stays( props) that can hold the top open as required.
My Tail end Tom's have a habit of rotting just before they're ripe.

Thames Water is a test for the British economy.
It profits by ripping off customers.
Pays dividends, doesn't invest.
Since March TW borrowed £1.47bn.
Paid £900m in fees/interest for the emergency financing.
Can't address crisis without public ownership.

Definitely the largest Dahlia tuber I've pulled out of a pot. Hope the two halves last the winter hibernation 🌱 #gardening
It's a wonderful country.
