I mean they've been using the "we thought he had a gun and someone was going to be harmed" as an excuse to kick down Black/Hispanic/etc. people's doors for decades. I just fully expect this to make it even worse. It's gonna be easy to expand it against political dissidents and LGBTQ people.

I just learned that in January the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that it is legal for law enforcement to enter the home of any gun owner without probable cause or a warrant if they simply "believe" there is a threat to individual or public safety.
The 4th Amendment is basically gone.

In 1400 he accused locals of diverting water from the his stream & stealing his fish. The stream had been good for 4,000 eels per year. But now the Prior complained that he could only get 200!

I think the reasons you state though are why Iran won't become a failed state or a warlording land. Iran's people have some of the most deeply entrenched unifying beliefs in the world, and the longest tradition of statehood. It might be disunited for a little while, but it will come back from that.

I think this is probably both factually true and yet practically false.
On the one hand, historians strongly prejudiced against mil-hist are rare. On the other hand, even a fairly small percentage of such historians is enough to massively reduce the job prospects of one doing mil-hist in academia.
