Yesterday in Buford
@flashlightfaces
We're a roots rock band based in Atlanta. Our goal is to create driving rock and roll songs, with melodies that get stuck in your head, and lyrics that put vivid images into your mind. https://shop.echobase.com/products/flashlight-faces-under-the-hammer
Yesterday in Buford
There has been some warm reception of this compilation of my solo music from a quarter century ago, you can listen anywhere.

One reason I started writing incessantly in my journals and tried to maintain autonomous consciousness
Things have been changing so fast, itβs hard to not feel like you have to keep shifting gears
Iβve basically lost all interest in writing any song lyrics that involve fiction or fantasy. Can still enjoy them, but canβt write them.
Tom Waitsβ Bone Machine is so fucking awesome and Iβve always thought this
Some of you may not know that I did a couple of album covers for @flashlightfaces.bsky.social. Go give them a spin, they're great!
I do love the psychotic Velvet Sundown lyric βmake them payβ
I think this is one of my best recorded performances

From the tape trading days
Happy birthday I got you a handheld electronic Blackjack game
The slacker aesthetic has resulted in lyrics that are so much worse than anyone is willing to admit
Support the business of Rock and Roll

βbuild songs,β βbuilding songsβ the fuck outta here
Took my Martin D1 (purchased 1999) to the luthier for neck reset and refret, he said the frets are βworn down to nothing,β said itβs a βguitar that tells a storyβ π
[blushes]
I continue to, maybe naively, believe in the newness of what Iβm doing, but it probably has to do with how I compare it with my own previous songs rather than to anything external
It is pretty sobering when you see hard evidence of how much more excited people can get about cover bands than ones writing new songs.
Happy to see music Iβve made get played here and there on internet & FM radio this past month, so here it all is again:

Full respect for a songwriter who posts *60 seconds* of an unreleased song and the government feels the need to put out a statement on it.

Thank you @amazingradio.com
The number of people who have independently compared my voice to Bob Mouldβs has passed into βstatistically significantβ
I really like Amazing Radio (it isnβt extractive or scammy like so many platforms for independent artists are, and you can actually get broadcast) and now weβre apparently #2 on their UK website, with βIn There Somewhere.β

Policy for the new batch of songs Iβm working on is, if it doesnβt make me cry, it isnβt good enough
Oh wow, if someone literally *buys* our EP on iTunes, we actually see that money
