"The summer my sister vanished was full of unusually bright light. Late afternoon sun poured into our kitchen,
illuminating the hazy steam from her pot of kheer."

THE INFLUENCER The influencer told me to begin each day with love, so I placed my head out my window and said βI love youβ to the trees. Three trees, to be precise, three plane trees to the left of my view, rustling, restless, murmuring, a quadrant of quivering amid a wall of immovable concrete.

Thank you, Annalisa, and thank you also for sending this gem to us. Thrilled to be featuring it today @annalisacrawford.bsky.social⬠#microfiction #MicroMonday
I've chosen the two recipients to send my novel to. Thanks for (the few) who requested.
This morning I called my local BBC station to try & promote my novel. How I hate doing the publicity! I'd much prefer to be quiet at my desk.

I'm not sure if anyone responded! I'll wait until Monday.
It was on this day, a month ago, when I found out that happy won't ever mean happy again. I can't speak much about it, I barely can write, but I wrote this tiny thing, and I am grateful to David Estringel and Blood Honey for publishing it β€οΈ

I'm hoping to get back on the hills! I'm still recovering from my hip replacement 4 months ago. I have a plan to climb Cader Idris again this year. We will see. Might have to go for a smaller mountain.
I don't think there's anything too upsetting in there. I think she'd enjoy it. I thought it was slightly overlong for the subject matter but you could always abridge it.
We're sharing @jaimegill.bsky.social's flash today and celebrating his birthday! π¦
We love the imaginative structure used, and how tension builds like a movie until that smashing last line.
Read and listen to a stunning reading here:

I'm re-posting this for #InternationalWomensDay
It was written after the murder of Renee Good but is about other brave women too

This somewhat sunny day we bring another fabulous preloved story π¦
We loved the gritty, salty language here, the relatable-while-infuriating MC, and the use of cheese to enrich and hold the story.
Grab a cracker or two and read @jdhellenwrites.bsky.social rich tale

"About the Longevity of Labelling Bell Jars"
Wonderful title and wonderful piece from @mandirapattnaik.bsky.social in @nffr.bsky.social. So many emotions bubbling away in this, so much realness at its heart.

"She imagines silkworms, far from this cold city-life, feasting on white mulberry leaves, spinning protective cocoons, ending up [...] stabbed or boiled alive for thread"
Beautifully evocative flash from @rosaleenlynch.bsky.social in @nffr.bsky.social

Just read it. Marvellous story. That last line...ohhhh
βBeached means sick. Or hunted. Or lost. It means you drifted too far from home and couldnβt find the tide again."
A powerful tale from @rachelmhollis.bsky.social in Issue 40.

I was being a bit facetious. You do now have the word 'press' there. Is that the change? I can't recall if it was there before
Only a bigly bigly war!
If you'd like to buy the book it's available now as a paperback & E-book.
