โ€œHigh riskโ€ includes pubs whose future is uncertain โ€“ we do not have much information about them.

โ€œHighest riskโ€, however, is the final stage: these pubs have closed and a change of use has been applied for or granted.

In other words, they are gone for good.

Pubs categorised as โ€œlow riskโ€ are likely to reopen soon. โ€œMedium riskโ€ pubs are actively seeking a new owner, tenant or leaseholder.

The Telegraph, which is campaigning to save Britainโ€™s establishments, is monitoring the number of pubs shutting down in a new pub-closure tracker.

Our tool lets you search the list of confirmed pub closures. If your local is included, you can find out more about its future.

Some 1,103 pubs announced their closure in 2025.

Under the strain of higher taxes, higher wages and looming drink-drive law changes, experts fear this number will continue to rise.

Some 212 pubs have announced their intention to close down since January, data from Camra, analysed by The Telegraph, show.

Of these, 19 are fighting to reopen, while 59 are currently seeking a new owner or tenant.

๐ŸšจNew: an average of four pubs per day have announced their closure since the start of the year in the wake of Labour tax policies.

We'll be tracking these closures in our brand new pub tracker๐Ÿบ: telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/02...

The results of the Dutch General Election are too close to call: will D66 or PVV be the biggest? Time will tell.๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

What we do know now, is that the far right is still seeing stable โ€” if not increasingโ€” levels of support.

Climate change has sent Europe an invoice - โ‚ฌ738 billion in losses from extreme weather since 1980, according to the EEA.

To find out what that really means, I dipped my toe into the world of climate finance๐Ÿ’ถ

Europe is engulfed in flames. Wildfires raging across the continent have burnt more than 1.8 million hectares as of early September โ€“ making 2025 the worst year on record.

Combined with rising temperatures and shifting wind and weather patterns, this creates the perfect conditions for wildfires to ignite earlier every year and burn longer โ€“ most likely for months to come.

The other reason is climate change. Many countries saw heavy rainfall earlier in the year, followed by an exceptionally dry spring. It allowed forests and grasslands to grow lush, only to shrivel back into tinder-dry vegetation afterwards.

A closer look at data from the #EFFIS shows that fires are starting earlier each year. The first sparks now flare weeks before summer, while the last embers die out much later. A longer season means more ground can burn, which is one reason behind this year's record total.

The results of the Big Butterfly Count are in โ€“ and itโ€™s not good news Despite enjoying the sunniest spring and hottest summer on record in the UK, numbers of the colourful flutterers are less than reassuring

Data from the Office for National Statistics, released earlier this year, show a similar and worrying trend.

The overall number of butterflies in the UK has dropped by 18 per cent over time, and in England by 19 per cent.

But the latter is something theyโ€™re more sensitive to, making them important #bioindicators.

Because they respond so rapidly to changes in climate and habitat, they act as an early warning system for wider environmental shifts caused by climate change.

Butterflies need two things to thrive: good weather and a healthy environment.

The former was definitely checked off: it was the sunniest spring on record, and the warmest summer! โ˜€๏ธ

While a marked improvement on last summerโ€™s record low of just seven, it will do little to reverse longer-term declines.

Between July 18 and August 10, more than 125,000 citizen scientists took part and recorded 1.7 million #butterflies and #moths.

On average, participants recorded 10.3 butterflies during each 15-minute count.
