In his new book, 'The poetry of suicide', poet and author @jtwelsch.bsky.social weaves stories of poets who took their own lives with the history of suicide in his family, searching for a new way of understanding these difficult deaths.

Yeah, it's something I only realised after posting that. Because I'm a lousy typist I copy and pasted from a pdf I have of the Faber 75, which is normally a good printing. BUT they have that spurious comma – it's unequivocally a typo, and one I didn't know about until recently.

As the lion, in our teargarten remembers the nenuphars of his Nile …, the besieged bedreamt him stil and solely of those lililiths undeveiled which had undone him, gone for age, and knew not the watchful treachers at his wake, and theirs to stay.

Official Trailer - WALKER (1987, Ed Harris, Richard Masur, Marlee Matlin, Alex Cox) YouTube video by Trailer World

I recommend people watch WALKER by Alex Cox. Forgive the trailer, they had to market it somehow, but it’s a minor miracle that Universal Pictures even theatrically released such a strong indictment of US foreign policy in Latin America at all. It’s on Internet Archive

Amazingly, even though Finnegans Wake is, fundamentally, fanfic about Lord Mayors of Dublin, there are no references to NYC mayors. Although, to be fair, the only ones who might have conceivably caught Joyce's attention would be Fiorello LaGuardia and 'Beau' Jimmy Walker.

I’m only the series editor, the volume’s editors came to us with the book more-or-less fully formed. Something on online resources would make for an excellent, albeit different volume

No: its focus is on classroom pedagogy, but not just university classrooms: it also cover high school, non-traditional spaces, and teaching Joyce in prison.

Restoring women to the philosophical canon is a matter of justice, but it is also better scholarship!
