Maybe academia almost letting me back in 4 times but choosing someone else was for the best.
I want to go work outdoors daily, not get swept up that lack of work/life balance & freak out about writing and editing.
I love research, but the field is full of toxic people and energy. ☹️

We got skunked except this chunky cottontail
An open burrow in sagebrush habitat with a small bit of snow around it. An empty trap sits nearby with burlap under it.
The trap is now open on two sides and placed carefully inside the burrow with burlap over and around it to make it blend into the environment and to insulate it for the rabbit that we hope to catch.

Setting before sunset, then we will check for rabbits 2 hours after sunset.
We set 100 traps and may catch 2-5 if we are lucky 🤞
Rabbits will then be weighed, sexed, PIT tagged, and vaccinated against RHDV2 ☺️ 💉

A large ceramic black sgraffito tiger sculpture that features a large California Poppy motif crawling up the side of it’s body. The pose of the piece is as though the tiger is elegantly stalking towards something (or someone).
