And, by the way, can we please stop calling nazi-saluting people #populist? What else do they need to do for the media & various pundits to stop euphemising & legitimising them like that? Tatoo a swastika on their foreheads? Or would that still be discussed as "controversial" & "weird"?
This is incredibly worrying & dangerous. Looks like a clear indication of how large social media platforms are now actively becoming a part of an #authoritarian shift in US politics & beyond.
Some of us have been talking for years about the dangers of euphemising the #FarRight. Now we find ourselves in front of numerous media, people & organisations who are looking at an outright #Nazi salute & (pretend to) fail to realise it, calling it "controversial" or "awkward". Dark times indeed.

Προς το παρόν το ελαιόλαδο στην Ελλάδα παραμένει στα ύψη παρότι πολλοί παραγωγοί έχουν βγάλει στην αγορά το φετινό λάδι. Αυτό μοιάζει να βεβαιώνει ότι πληρώνουμε τις αυξήσεις τιμών σε διάφορα προϊόντα προκαταβολικά, αλλά αργούμε να δούμε μειώσεις όταν αυτές προκύπτουν, ή δεν τις βλέπουμε καθόλου. 4/
Από τον Αύγουστο διαβάζουμε επίσης ρεπορτάζ για την καλή εικόνα των ελαιόδεντρων στην Ελλάδα, με την εγχώρια παραγωγή να αναμένεται να αυξηθεί κατά 42,9% σε σχέση με πέρσι, κάτι που θα έπρεπε να μας προδιαθέτει για σημαντική πτώση των τιμών. 3/
Φέτος, έχουμε ήδη δυο-τρεις μήνες που διαβάζουμε διεθνή ρεπορτάζ για την αναμενόμενη πτώση των τιμών του ελαιόλαδου σε Ισπανία, που λειτουργεί ως σημείο αναφοράς για την Ευρώπη και τον υπόλοιπο κόσμο. 2/
Πέρσι τέτοια εποχή τα διεθνή μέσα βούιζαν για την άνοδο στις τιμές του #ελαιόλαδου. Στην Ελλάδα, είδαμε αύξηση των τιμών ακόμα & τη στιγμή που τα περισσότερα λάδια στα ράφια των σούπερ μάρκετ ήταν της προηγούμενης χρονιάς, φτάνοντας τελικά τις τιμές σε αδιανόητα ύψη όταν βγήκε το καινούριο λάδι. 1/

One more alarming sign of #democratic_erosion in Greece, which has seen #press_freedom (see RSF index), #human_rights (see @hrw.org), #academic_freedoms & most other indicators of #democracy & rule of law (see V-Dem reports) sharply decline since #Mitsotakis became Prime Minister in 2019. 3/
This despicable assault on #artistic_freedom & shameful act of #censorship by the Greek government came after the leader of a #Far_Right party complained about the work of art. So, the #Mitsotakis government in Greece both violates #artistic_freedom & legitimizes the #FarRight's agenda. 2/
A Greek flag made of bedsheets donated by women who live in Greece. A work of art that aims to raise awareness about #femicide & domestic violence. It was exhibited at the Consulate General of #Greece in NY but a couple of days ago the GR Minister of Foreign Affairs demanded its withdrawal. 1/
