wild how much hate I see towards the people who create content for tiktok. Not even at the application itself, not about China, but just folks who are crowing with joy over those creators getting screwed over.

I'll let you guess the demographic that they all seem to fall into.

Nothing like having coffee in the hotel lobby and watching 3 people have a whole ass conversation about how trans kids don't exist.

It doesn't mean you did anything wrong by being a recipient of their good side and the positive impacts of their work, you don't have to run from that, even though knowing the fullness of that person's character hurts so much.

A person can be good to you, do good things for you, be meaningful and impactful to you in only positive ways... and also be a monster to others.

The thing is, you aren't the author any more than you are your parents. You took the stories and the lessons in good faith, as they were presented, and the messy nature of human relationships holds.

and for many people there are authors who had a greater influence on forging their personality and worldview than their own parents.

People really hate feeling like part of who they are was built by someone deceptive and abusive... and that's what it is. We are moulded by the stories we consume...
