Another 2 weeks of bickering in the alps might help us work that out. And more balcony coffee, obviously.
At a steady but sure pace.
Donβt downplay it. I know it means more to you.
Ahh! Back when I looked young and energetic! That was a lovely chat indeed - hopefully see you in person sometime soon!
Fucking. 10. years. man.
Maybe it is technically a classic now. Christ.
I often fantasise about having coffee on that balcony...
God, I think I need a lie down after that...

I'll keep sharing things on here whenever I can!
And most recently, I was the animation director on Iain Gardner's 'A Bear Named Wojtek', completed in 2023. This film was Oscar Shortlisted (@theacademyusa.bsky.social) this year, is nominated for an @annieawards.bsky.social, and was a real treat to be part of!

I directed and animated 'The Last Train' in 2019, with design and illustration by @seanmulvenna.bsky.social. Take a wild ride on the last train home from Glasgow on a Friday night, why don't you?

There's also a 360Λ version of this film if you want a dizzying, immersive experience...

'4:3' was made in 2019 and I obviously felt like I had unfinished business with 16mm film (or maybe I just hated myself).
This abstract film combines 12 different 16mm films to create one unified whole, using the same techniques as in 'Scribbledub'.

In 2018, @duncancowles.bsky.social and I made 'Just Agree Then' while on an artist residency at European Forum Alpbach. With the UK on the cusp of leaving the EU, we bickered with each other for 2 weeks as we struggled through the making of this...

'Life Cycles' was made in 2016 and looked at ideas surrounding routine, monotony, attention and distraction, in a world where things feel a little unhinged and fragile. (It weirdly still all feels too relevant today, or maybe even more so...)

In 2015, I made a film about my gran, Isabella, with everyone's fav documentarian @duncancowles.bsky.social. The film explores memory and what happens when that starts to falter.

'Scribbledub' was a more abstract film made in 2014 by painted and scratching directly on to 16mm film stock. The audio was also made by drawing and scratching on the film strip's optical waveform, and was then mixed together by sound wizard Robbie Gunn.

Next up was a film called 'Spectators' - an observational film looking at people attending football matches, made during my last year at @glasgowschoolofart.bsky.social.
It was all painted in watercolours and massively based on my experiences supporting Motherwell at Fir Park...

This was the first animation I evert made while studying at @glasgowschoolofart.bsky.social in 2013. Adapted from Oliver Sacks' book (@oliversacks.bsky.social), it was all drawn in charcoal on A1 paper and then erased and replaced.

I've made a bunch of short films over the years. Here's a thread of them and where you can see them!
Hey π
I mainly make animated films, amongst a bunch of other bits and pieces. I suppose I'll share some of that on here, along with news of any upcoming things or events or just things I like...
