over 40,000 people die annually in crashes and that’s because our road design allows people to speed/drive recklessly, there is little to no enforcement of road laws, and there is no good alternative for driving like transit or biking available for most people. it’s not because of immigrant drivers.

these idiots are going to get our own naval ships sunk and kill thousands of servicemen because the only way you can attempt this is if you occupy Iran’s coast with actual boots on the ground and then put naval assets in areas where IRGC naval drones more or less have free reign right now

it's worth thinking about this as a kind of Nazi ideology: a belief that the country's military failures are a result of insufficient brutality rather than poor political decision-making

Even if the straight was fully cleared of mines, the IRGC has a fleet of unmanned explosive surface vessels that are being used to hit tankers and cargo ships on the water. Sea drones are something that very much exist and something that navies don’t have a good defense mechanism to stop or prevent

case in point. the straight doesn’t even have to be mined. as long as the IRGC can launch these vessels and there is no credible ceasefire, no shipping or naval assets can safely navigate.

as I said last week, we live in the age of drones in the air and at sea. there is no scenario where US or allied naval ships can open up or even navigate the straight of hormuz without putting their assets at serious risk until this war is resolved with a credible ceasefire agreement

On the battlefield, Ukraine is liberating territories. Russian sources are complaining about Ukraine planning a major counteroffensive to come. Internet blackouts are hitting Moscow and St. Petersburg. I have a feeling Putin is sleeping with one eye open these days. Interesting times we are in.

Most major missile strikes by Ukraine are now accompanied by surveillance drones with little to no air defense activity from the russian military. Over the last couple days major radar sites, ammo/drone/fuel storage depots, logistic hubs, and military manufacturing facilities have been hit hard

For Mountain rail from Denver-Craig, advocates would like to see it named the Yampa River Valley line, and FRPR advocates would like to see some geographic indicators to better reflect where these services go as well, but I’m unconvinced advocates are being heard by planners about these concerns

That said I think Colorado Ranger is the least bad, but it’s worth noting that this is actually going to be two separate services, one that is Denver-Boulder-Fort Collins, and another that is Denver-Colorado Springs-Pueblo, so it may need two names to differentiate service patterns

There is a worry amongst transit advocates that renaming it before it goes to ballot will end up making it more difficult to educate voters about what this project is prior to the 2026 ballot. FRPR is what this has been known as for over a decade now, and it’s perfect for informing voters what it is

these kind of democrats don’t have any actual ideas on how to make this country better or more prosperous. I actually want to pay taxes so we can have things like healthcare for all, universal education from early childcare to college, more buses and trains everywhere, and paid parental leave

the press really sucks at covering wars they have no idea what they are talking about. they should hire people who actually pay attention to information coming out of war zones rather than making assumptions and listening to official narratives or listening to people who aren’t even in power anymore

I don’t know if Ukraine is actually struggling they are currently making more advances than russia on the frontlines, had two days of successful strikes against russian storage and logistics sites, and no deaths have been recorded from lack of heating and power from russian strikes on power stations

USUALLY presidents getting blame or taking credit for gas prices (or local crime rates, or etc etc) is dumb, because it’s a commodity whose price is set on a global market, USUALLY for reasons having little to do with the White House’s occupant. But this is 100% directly Trump’s fault.

Russia has already laterally deployed some of their best forces from Luhansk and Donetsk to Zaporizhzhia in order to respond to Ukrainian counterattacks that have liberated 500 square kilometers from russian occupation in the span of about 4 weeks. Russia’s spring offensive is going to have to wait.

jake yapper have you ever thought that putting troops in harms war in an unconstitutional/illegal war is maybe more disrespectful to the troops? forcing troops to commit crimes against humanity by dropping a bomb on a school full of children and blowing up water supplies is disrespecting the troops

the official policy of the Trump administration is that it doesn’t matter that russia helped iran kill 6 American soldiers while also destroying billions of dollars worth of high tech U.S. military assets. they ordered flags flown at half masse when Charlie Kirk was murdered, but not 6 soldiers.

If republicans in Congress had any integrity and intestinal fortitude whatsoever, they would impeach trump over this response. It should be a scandal. We should be sending Ukraine tomahawks to launch into the goddamn Kremlin over this shit. But he doesn’t care because he thinks Putin is his friend

he keeps musing about how maybe we can’t have elections during a war even though we had elections during the damn civil war. this all scratches the part of my brain that believes a trump-putin conspiracy to create a new world order by trying to destroy the old world order might actually be legit
