CGT raises about £2bn per year, equalising the rates would probably bring in a quarter again as much (people would just change their behaviour), which is peanuts in terms of government revenues & would be pretty disruptive to the economy.

Well, these are the people who likely handed the election to MAGA in the first place. I suspect that the best hope is that Republican sensibles get their sh1t together before they end up with Donald Jr running for the nomination.
