It is worrying. What will make Trump stop, total destruction of Iran?

This is an absolutely huge jump in oil prices.

It's also why Europe needs to get off fossil fuels asap (beyond climate change impact). We can't be beholden to this.

This war is clearly only the US and Israel against Iran. If the UK supports this, we will become targets of international ire along with those two.

Luckily the #USgovt doesn't believe in #globalwarming, otherwise they'd be more careful, while we switch lights off at night and turn hot water off for holidays and recycle every shred.

I accidentally said Board of War, when I meant Peace. I guess that says it all.

Cruelty to immigrants is not what my party stands for. It’s time for True Labour, not Blue Labour | Stella Creasy We must get back to the party’s roots before it is too late. That means embracing difference, rejecting division – and fighting for opportunities for all, says MP for Walthamstow, Stella Creasy

"There is an alternative way forward: being True – not Blue – Labour. True Labour doesn’t fear those who are different. Instead, it demands everyone contribute their abilities to society – and works to unlock such skills."

I was adamant that I wasn't going to buy a nasty costume for my son and made up costumes, eg black spots on an old white shirt and a cardboard floppy ears for a "101 Dalmation" themed costume. Very proud of that one.

Maybe it is run by teenagers who come out with ideas that are not filtered before being released as policy, like the ban on all student visas from 4 countries announced yesterday which will reduce asylum claims by 90.

Apparently it was 90 students last year from these 4 countries that claimed asylum once in the UK... hardly going to reduce claims much, but shut off education for many.

39pc of asylum came via study visas… these visas are hard to obtain & costly, you need offer of a place to study, loads of cash in an account etc etc. I’d like more info on this. How many are we talking about, how many Afghan students did this? Also people may have arrived genuinely

The Home Secretary's decision, without any attempt at consultation or oversight, to limit refugees to 30 months in the UK before having to have their claims re-confirmed is a cruel, inhumane, and ultimately unworkable policy. The Home Secretary has claimed it is necessary to tackle "legitimate grievances". There is nothing legitimate about denying those fleeing war and persecution the ability to rebuild their lives. There is nothing legitimate about leaving them in limbo, increasing the stress and trauma they are already going through, and reinforcing hostility and racism against them.
People seeking asylum often already have to wait years for their claims to be heard. Increasing the number of cases which the Home Office deals with is obviously never going to be feasible. The Home Secretary knows this. That is why she has pushed this through via the backdoor without any consultation.
Instead of trying to grab headlines to appear "tough", this government needs to be ensuring that those who come here seeking safety are able to receive it faster, and more effectively. This latest PR stunt from the Home Office runs counter to any practical measures which are needed.

We are disgusted by the latest cruel and inhumane anti-asylum policy announced by the Home Secretary. Limiting refugees to 30 months before needing to re-apply undermines their ability to rebuild their lives, to feel safe and secure, all while increasing Home Office bureaucracy and costs.

Now that his entire family has been killed gradually, even less of a case to return. He arrived aged 16, lorry, many small crimes sadly, but nothing since 2018. Just weekly registering. Nice bus drivers give him a free ride to it, as 10 miles away. Zero income. Literally. His cousin lets him stay.

Had they spent the money ages ago on better decisions, faster decisions, removing those with failed or spurious claims, housing... actual plentiful housing for everyone and inc refugees....

It also doesn't recognise that once people are in a safe place and have refugee status, they may not renew their status every 30 months: Might not get status again, lose the job they got, end up under the radar and get exploited.
