Offshore wind farms race toward completion despite Trump’s attacks Trump is trying to kill offshore wind. But two big East Coast projects are poised to start producing power, and others are hitting key construction…

Further mischief on offshore wind means further pause on permitting reform. Let’s hope we can go forward without further mischief.

When Trump says "we make a lot of money," he's talking about his Big Oil donors.

They spent spent nearly $100M to get Trump elected in 2024, and the investment is paying off quite well for them.

Oligarchy in action.

Marine Oxygen Levels Are the Next Great Casualty of Climate Change The increasing frequency of dead zones will affect billions of people who rely on the ocean for survival

Large swaths of the oceans have lost 10 to 40% of their oxygen, and that loss is expected to accelerate with climate change
Water without adequate oxygen cannot support life, which is catastrophic for marine life and billions humans who depend on fish

Baby Shark Sighting Misrepresented in Media Coverage A photograph of a small great white shark made headlines, but for the wrong reasons. The coolest aspect of the study was missed.

Friends, this 2024 photo is going viral again.

Captions suggest that it is unequivocally a newborn great white shark, that no one has ever seen a baby great white shark before, and that finding one is a holy grail for marine biology.

None of these things are accurate, as I wrote at the time: 🧪🦑🌍🦈

The chart below shows wild mammals as 5% of the total biomass of mammals on Earth - but most of these are marine mammals, like whales. Of the terrestrian mammals, only 2% of them are wild (or less: we're losing them fast and the data is a few years old...)

Yesterday, Jeffrey Epstein's former account testified, under oath, that the Epstein Estate paid a settlement to one of the women accusing Donald Trump of raping her as a minor, AFTER Epstein had died.

This would end any other President instantly. But the press doesn't care.

Elon Musk is now worth $845 billion.

Tesla reported paying ZERO federal income tax on $5.7 billion of U.S. income in 2025.

Meanwhile, nearly a quarter of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and household debt has risen to a record high.

See the problem here?

Coming up on 30 years since the Dunblane school shooting massacre (13th March 1996) and watching another documentary about it. The families wanted to end legal handgun ownership and we passed those laws. We’ve not had a school shooting since. I ache for all Americans who cannot get this done there.

‘They pushed so many lies about recycling’: the fight to stop big oil pumping billions more into plastics Plastic production has doubled over the last 20 years – and will likely double again. For author Beth Gardiner, metal water bottles and canvas tote bags are not the solution. So what is?

Trying to use less plastic?

Big Oil and the plastics industry are spending billions to make sure everyone else uses more.

“I think what stood out most is the deliberateness and intentionality over the years of pushing plastic into our lives,” said @bethgardiner.bsky.social. “It was such a shock."

I learned about a brilliant project yesterday to support British Sign Language (BSL) users, creating new signs for scientific terms in chemistry, oceanography, data science & more.
And they're fabulously descriptive. Do have a look and share!

ICE detainee in Arizona dies after not receiving medical attention for severe tooth pain Emmanuel Damas, a Haitian asylum seeker, was being held at the Florence correctional center before he died

A Haitian asylum seeker detained by ICE died after being refused timely medical attention for a severe toothache.

At least 40 people have died in ICE custody since Trump took office — a two-decade high.

The monstrous cruelty of Trump's police state knows no bounds.

It reads "Tens of thousands of terrapins will slowly drown in crab traps this year because Virginia lawmakers chose not to back a sensible solution to this heartbreaking, environmentally devastating problem.”

This morning, a few Democrats in the #Virginia State Senate joined Republicans to vote down a bill that would have required recreational crab pots in certain targeted protection areas in the #ChesapeakeBay watershed to install bycatch reduction devices to prevent terrapins from drowning.
