I think the “big ass storm” potential with this one is causing some people to be more cautious, and waiting until we get closer to go full bore with messaging.
IMO, the right way to do it.
I really should add, forecasts Thursday night will have good data as well. My target is usually 60 hours from the start of the snowfall.
I think I’m developing a very good system using AI and deterministic models. The AI models, and their ensembles, have shown better trends all winter, and don’t get the huge shifts from run to run.
Yes, a snow storm is possible in Minnesota, even the Twin Cities, Saturday night into Sunday.
However, usable forecasts (amount, locations) will start to come out Friday. Anything earlier is closer to a guess/wishcasting/clickbait.

Snow is moving into the Twin Cities again tonight. 1-3” is possible. As temps drop below freezing, I expect some slush to stick to roads and sidewalks.

I just always assumed you did!
I always forget how much fun it is to watch news from the production side.
Bluesky knows this better than most. There’s still plenty of crap here. We can all use that reminder!
I find such joy in my job. I’ll need to watch it back to see if it’s worth posting the clip, or if I sound like an idiot.

A forgotten weather related song
It’s been on my workout mix since the album came out. I go HAM at the gym when it comes on, à la Matt in the live version.
I was laughing at Iowa wet-farting their last two possessions in OT
It took until 9pm, but the Twin Cities did hit 60° today!
Just wild that it feels summerlike outside right now.
It’s a delightful career I’ve chosen.
“could” is doing some heavy lifting, but up to 3 times is possible.
Talmadge needs to learn at some point.
Pretty and comfortable for the first post-7:00pm sunset in the Twin Cities this year.
Savor it. We could be shoveling 3 times this week.
Trust me, I’d rather not!
