"I wish those who spread hatred could spend just one week in Napier Barracks, cut off from work, isolated from society, uncertain of the future. Only then would they understand what it feels like."

1 in 3 children living in poverty are migrant children. This is not a coincidence. Hostile immigration rules drive child poverty.
Tomorrow, MPs will debate child poverty and No Recourse to Public Funds.
Make sure your MP is there - send them an email NOW!

My Jewellery, My Story project:
"All of them arrived in this country alone having lost their families and loved ones. We have had to think together about how they can be involved after losing most of what they held precious. It has been significant for each of them to tell their stories."
There are a lot of traditions at Baca, but Friday Night Meal is a special weekly event. When people arrive in this country, they often miss the sense of community they had back home. Baca gives them the chance to show their culinary skills learned in the time they spend with us! π²
Imagine being forced to flee Afghanistan aged 15 because your family was under threat. Imagine taking a 5,000-mile journey to find safety & being one of the few lucky ones who survive.
This is the reality for Raahim* a Baca young person.

Baca young person Ibrahim shares his thoughts the far-right riots in 2024. In the conversation he reveals his story, his feelings and what he believes can be done to bring communities together to create a better understanding of people seeking safety.

To all those who deny safe routes, I hope this headline makes you ashamed.
It should. Whilst youβre trying to act tough and score points, childrenβs lives are at stake.
Children forced to flee their homes and undertake perilous journeys; many not reaching the shore. Because of you.
Our yp have been part of curating a new local exhibition.
They have all lost their families and what is most precious to them but their passion & stories has formed a moving exhibition.
Finding creative ways for our yp to share their identity is so importantπΏ.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day π
This year make it really count by asking your MP to support a fair new plan for refugees.
With the new Border Security Bill your action could not be more important.

This is not only morally reprehensible, but a breach of the UN Refugee Convention.
No refugee should be discriminated against on the basis of how they entered the country
www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
π¨BREAKING: From today people who entered the UK by irregular routes will "normally be refused" citizenship, regardless of how many years they've built their lives, raised families & called this country home.
A heartless attack on people seeking safety.

Time + time again, dehumanising rhetoric is normalised, giving way to ethnic cleansing + genocide. We must condemn genocide, genocidal rhetoric + dehumanising rhetoric wherever we see it. Dehumanisation paves the way to genocide. We must not become indifferent to it.
#HolocaustMemorialDay
Such as the genocides in Palestine, Congo, Yemen, Sudan, Rwanda, Bosnia, East Timor, Myanmar, Sri Lanka + Tigray; the Armenian, Kurdish + Assyrian genocides; + the genocide of Indigenous peoples. As a migration charity we work to expose the root causes of displacement, like genocide + colonialism...
Alt text: a black background with the Palestinian, Kurdish, Sudanese, Armenian, Congo, Rohingya flags and an image of the yellow patch that Jewish people were forced to wear during the Holocaust. The text in white reads: "never again" means never again for everyone.
NEVER AGAIN MEANS NEVER AGAIN FOR EVERYONE.
The Holocaust teaches us the message of βnever againβ: that we cannot let genocidal history repeat. Yet this history continues to repeat: we see βnever againβ become reserved for a select few, instead of it becoming a call for liberation for all people...
In this powerful speech, Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde asked President Trump to "have mercy on people fleeing war & persecution"
Even in times where human rights and justice are at risk, compassionate people will ALWAYS continue to stand up for people seeking safety.
Whoop! Whoop! We're happy to be here tooπ₯³
Thank you so much Cameron for the shout out! We appreciate your support in helping raise awareness of our important work so much π§‘
