I have lived here in Austria for more than half my life .. I find it incredibly important to stay in touch with my cultural roots; that will never change. There is something so magnificent about the English sense of humour.

I'm trying to think when I introduced The Snowman to her .. I have it on VHS .. it has always been an integral part of Christmas. I think it taught her about 'disappointment' and things not always turning out how you'd like them to. The ending is, as you say, brutal. But so is life sometimes. x

A few Christmas(es) ago, Heidi and I watched it at her then boyfriend's house .. honestly, he looked at us with such scorn as we sang along to all the songs .. that was when I knew they wouldn't last. And they didn't.

The same applies to The Sound of Music too! We love it.

Heidi and I watch The Snowman together every Christmas and we both weep together; it is somehow life affirming; it will never get 'old' for us! It is SO touching and poignant to share it with her. x

Oh swimming!! I used to swim in the Prater with an outside pool and an inside sauna or two .. honestly, that really saved me when I felt like the world was against me. Go for it, James! xx

Today, Pres. Trump gave a sweeping legal reprieve to nearly 1,600 defendants who attacked the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, including those convicted of violent crimes & seditious conspiracy.

More than 150 police officers were assaulted during that attack. Some eventually died.
