This administration does the Lord Farquaad meme but IRL so frequently it's frankly too tired to post anymore.
But, for the record: "Some of you may die, etc, etc."

ββI think dads are mostly a waste of time or spaceβ for the first few months of a childβs lifeβ: skill issue, dude. Absolute, lit-in-marquee-lights skill issue.
Just worked through some of the recurrent paperwork and applications for the student loans (which, i suspect, will actually leave me worse off).
Need to go scream into a pillow for a minute, as people do in a healthy society.
AI, used that way, is just a web search that obscures the sources of the info it turns up; thus, it primarily functions as a way to slip sketchy sources (right-wing misinfo, conspiracy theories, reddit dreck) past people's filters.
I was checking to see if my Brita filter removes flouride (it doesn't, as i believed) when it caught my eye that Google's cursed AI summary lists flouride as a "harmful contaminant" in water.
Just another reminder that AIs are captives of the (often terrible) sources their programming elevates.
I agree with the woman at the party; unironically, i would pay $10 million (stealing it first, obv) to feel like i did at 25 again. Hell, $11 million.
Hope so!
Dear everyone,
As per the post from the Bodleian librarian below, AI bots and scrapers are putting just about every website under great pressure, British History Online included.
A lot of excellent tech staff are working hard to keep everything working, but outages and siruptions are inevitable.
I'm sorry to hear it :(
How long do the flareups last?
That's AI discourse, over & over:
Tech ppl: AI is awesome! It'll completely destroy your livelihood! Your children will know only poverty and suffering!
Human: Well, that sucks. I'll pass.
Tech ppl: You foolish, ignorant Luddite! You will be obsolete in the new order. Get with the program!
Generation after generation, saying "The poors deserve their suffering." plays really well with a lot of voters.
The idea here seems to be that everythingβnovels, applications, letter, everythingβshould be written in the single correct style: that of an interoffice memo.
Lowest common denominator writing.
Another one that crawled out of the Ohio cesspool
Among other things, that's goddess-tier posting
Hm. The age was 6, the system was deisel submarines.
That's so far around the bend. The idea that a chatbot's lowest-common-denominator, pureed prose is the ideal, and the individual styles of the human writers it melted down & appropriated along the way are "clunky mistakes" is stomach-turning.
Humanity right now is wrestling with its demons. And losing.
Well done! (Him, i mean, althoigh i do appreciate the degree of difficulty of your task)
On the other hand, sneering contempt for everyone not in the club is a big part of the MAGA brand. Not that i think it's helping them, but they may be prisoners of their own schtick, here.
People are using "goat" as a verb and i hate it
I'm really glad y'all enjoyed the rainbow picture
:(
Nice!
Best thing that can happen to a banana
"93 million Iranians" has the same significance to these people as "93 million grains of sand." Way too many people around the world today just see no value in other human beings.
Stormy grey sky in the background, with trees (mostly pines) at a dutch angle at the bottom of the screen. A light pole sticks up on the left side. There's a bright rainbow on the left, crossing the pole, with a faint double to the right.
Double rainbow for morale
Yeah. It's dreadful.
It's just . . . shocking. It's not difficult to construct an argument against its use; there are as many problems as you care to take time to explain. But people, as you say, mostly just don't care. Even experts who really, really should know better.
I think so, too
If you really think the bot is superior at your job, how is it that you're still in that job? How is it that you think anyone will beβand what happens to everyone then?
And why are you so excited about it, guys?
Leaving aside that bots hallucinate, compile research with blinders on, and provide summaries asserting *interpretations* of sources as fact (when many interpretations are possible)βThese people are so oddly thirsty for their own extinction.
