As someone who takes care of critically ill children, I can assure you that all these morons selling the anti-vaccine/wellness grift would shit their pants in any real medical emergency, and that even the most anti science parents run to the hospital when things get bad.
5/ As SNAP benefits and other assistance is eliminated, I expect to see more children admitted with these issues. Again, these are long term complications that can compromise a child’s life. The decisions we make today impact our society for decades.
4/ on the other side of things, some families supplement their formula with things like powdered milk, but this practice is also harmful. Powdered milk products are very high in salt. Those patients experience similar symptoms, but are also at risk for clotting and stroke.
3/ if you dilute your Na, those processes all fail. You can have seizures, arrhythmias, and swelling as water rushes into the brain (cerebral edema).
2/ specifically, sodium (Na, from salt) gets diluted. Sodium is important for many functions. Na ions allow nerves to conduct and heart rhythm to cycle. It also serves an osmotic function, meaning the concentration of Na keeps water in certain places and away from others.
1/ when families run low on money, they often try to make their baby formula last longer by diluting it with water. This practice can seriously and permanently harm infants. Formula is precisely made in terms of calories and electrolytes, and it’s essential to mix it properly.

Not that I can think of, and it's pretty rare for a family to object (though it has happened before). But things are only getting more and more crazy here.
Very old studies (40s). This is another one that sounds good but has practical issues. You can kill lots of things with radiation (or bleach), including your own cells. There's the prob of getting enough blood out of the body to sterilize plus the prob of getting to bacteria hiding in your organs.
Most common reason people die of sepsis is delayed antibiotic admin. Early sepsis can be subtle, difficult to detect and we are also trying not to overuse antibiotics. It's very tricky to navigate, but we could absolutely reduce deaths by recognizing sepsis consistently. But abx are essential.

Vitamin c has repeatedly failed to show clinical benefit despite theoretical potential. The surviving sepsis guidelines are evidence based & often reviewed. Physicians DO keep up with these topics so your comment and speculation is completely wrong. Not going to argue this.
Every patient who dies from sepsis is on antibiotics. Therefore we should stop using antibiotics in sepsis. /s

I see this all the time. Family has loaded guns literally lying around, and they are shocked with their kid finds it and accidentally discharges it.
