I finished a pet dog portrait today 🥳 I'll post it in a few days. It's important to celebrate the small wins. It only took 9 hours to complete over a period of a few weeks, because the brain needed a break to let it brew, and I made changes. *yay* ☺️

Its twin on the other side of the gate is still there, and the younger one is a 3rd of its size now. :)

When I was a kid, there was a beautiful tree at the entrance of a park on the way to my primary school. They cut it down because it was getting very heavy, and it was near a road. I'd hugged or patted that tree both to and from school. The stump is still there, and a sapling is growing out of it.

They might have discovered that there's rot inside, so it's not safe. But it is still very sad :(

Have you ever felt the need to make something?

That spark inside, the warmth within of passion. A character holding a floating flame.

You yearn for it like hunger and thirst, just like love. Driving you forward.

So you gather the supplies that you need. A paint brush, a Wacom pen, yarn, an oil paint palette, a bottle of ink, an eraser (rubber) and a normal pen.

Remember to listen to your kinder inner voice.

You notice companions are still there. Your spark of passion remains. Still there... The cat has procesed to attack the negative thoughts to protect the character.

I'll give it another go. The cat calms the character down and helps the character relax.

After drawing and being an artist for years, my doubt is still there, but it's become quieter with each year. This has been a hard lesson to learn, but I surprised myself by still making and creating regardless of my past circumstances, from a kid to a teenager to a young adult to a 30-year-old. I still love art, and it's not going away.

It looks okay, you know. A soft voice says. The moon and stars have appeared in the darkness.

You blink away tears. Oh, that's me! The character tries to stop crying.

It's only one page, and you have the next page to try again. A cat is lurking.

*Cat jumps up and nuzzles your face.* The nuzzle has snapped the darkness away.

I shut down. I cry and weep. In the darkness.

Just darkness.

A swirl appears.

The swirl touches the character who is crying.

Your characters will help you on this quest. Maybe companions even.

But doubt sweeps in like icy water, which hurts and stings you. Sharp lines digging into the character.

Your hands were shaking again, and you made a mistake without realising, or maybe you were sabotaging yourself... Darkness is within the character and gathering around.

It's ugly... I shouldn't bother... No one will like it... I don't like it... Too many thoughts.

I'm quite a sensitive person, and I've always had naturally shaky hands, so it impacts drawing, writing, holding stuff, etc., etc.
