Prof. Jeff Ollerton - ecological scientist and author
Post by @JeffOllerton.
Jonathon you should try to get a copy of Pollinators and Pollination by Jeff Ollerton. jeffollerton.co.uk. There is section on the significance of gardens that would particularly interest you. Very well written and accessible and enjoyable for non-scientists.

I learnt a lot about teeth trying to understand why echidnas and platypuses donβt have them.

When it's snowy on the mountain the Currawongs come to visit me and demand food. One of them is a repeat visitor I have named Snapper. Sound on to help you work out which one . #birds

Google President Praised MAGA Speech Slamming βClimate Extremist Agendaβ
Interior Sec. Doug Burgum told an AI conference that data centers should be powered by coal, gas, and nuclear. Ruth Porat called his comments "fantastic.β
Nowhere near enough is being made of Google taking a clear, intentional and planned step into the techno-fascist position on energy and climate
It literally came with its own PDF white paper. This is clear and intentional and thought-through.

Numbats are generally considered to be termitivorous and have teeth whereas echidnas in the same area eat ants, termites and cockchafer larvae and have no teeth and a much slimmer snout.

I did contact the Smithsonian magazine and had a response from a science editor which led to an hour-long friendly FaceTime discussion about monotreme myths. The reason I mentioned you on BlueSky was when I checked what the current on-line consensus was your article was one of the first to come up.

Nobody is litigating anything. We are discussing scientific data and its interpretation. In my response to Ed I raised some broader biological questions arising from the paper he might be interested in - relating to the costs of acid secretion and the widespread use of proton pump inhibitors.

I emailed Ed Yong and he simply said "that story was one of several hundred written that year, and I had no memory of it until now" which I think was disappointing.

I didn't think I was targeting you - I thought that you would be interested and as a science communicator that you would want to get the facts right. If you read the paper you will see I start with Yong and Newer's articles. The papers concerned are critiqued.

@cqchoi.com - in 2013 you published an article titled "why the platypus will never have a stomach". This year I published an article that explains that platypuses do have a stomach, and how this misunderstanding occurred. You can find it here: www.researchgate.net/profile/Stew... comments welcome

200 million year old species? What total nonsense. Then Tachyglossid line (echidnas) diverged from the platypus line about 55 million years ago. The oldest known echidna fossils (including Zaglossus) are only 1.8 million years old.
