Ha, just spotted this Bluesky post of mine from Feb 17th...little did I know we'd actually go and win the damn thing ...whodathoughtit?..not me obvs, gauging by the original post below.
Ahhh, been holding back on watching it thinking "well, it'll only disappoint me, not be as good as original"..but I'll give it a go...that said, why is it virtually impossible to watch the (to me) superior original NON-directors cut, with the fabulous voice over.
The perfect end to one of the most memorable weeks in my musical "career".
Radcliffe and Maconie just played Yachts' "Suffice to Say" on their BBC 6Music show.
Back to the start of it all...the arc is complete
The 2nd single I co-wrote that gets released today (see other post), the song that won "Cân i Gymru 2026" (Song for Wales) last Sat on S4C's live TV show.
Y Gân by Sara Owen.
Just about recovered from the shock...not least of seeing myself on TV (who's that old git?!)

I'm not exactly prolific when it comes to releases, so to have co-written TWO songs released by different artists on the same day, TODAY (coincidentally), is quite something.
"Alabaster Skin" by new artist Pegsy.
Influences: Nancy, Lee, Duane, Ennio... www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV3O...
Just leaving this here...instrumental teaser clip of a new single, Alabaster Skin, by new singer Pegsy, that I've co-written, out on Friday; if you like a bit of twangy guitar, check out below
Here's the pre-save link for Spotify/Youtube/Tidal etc:

Can't quite believe this...
Bendigedig!
Dead chuffed to have co-written 2 songs that have made it into last 8 for S4C's annual live "Can I Gymru" (Song for Wales) on Feb 28th...need to start practicing my "well, chwarae teg, the best song won" maganimous expression for when the cameras spin round and pick me out when we come last :-) .
It’s a hit!…I’ll sort the tune out.
Correct!
Ha, I’m on one of those albums!
It’s with a heavy heart that I’m having to cancel Saturday night’s sold out Thornton Hough gig. 1st gig in 49 years I've had to cancel due to ill-health.
Woke up feeling absolutely awful (all the symptoms of this nasty new flu going round).
Rescheduled date March 21st '26, tickets valid for new date
In order to try and relive the experience, just working my way through these beauties..
PS Gong eh? Silly not to.
saw him at Manchester…my gig of the year by a million miles.
BVO…a ringing endorsement 😊
You were quietly wonderful, Nick x
Roy Harper (84!) amazing last night at Manchester Bridgewater Hall.
Played the set list of my dreams.
Wonderful accompaniment from son Nick.

Our first taste of the music press…and it was a good one (it couldn’t last 😉)
Love that last line….
Hope you had a lovely day xxx
August 31 1977, Yachts support XTC at London’s Hope & Anchor…
Continuing the nearly unanimous run of 8/10 (or 4/5) reviews from virtually all the printed monthly magazines (+Guardian/Observer), here's review of the "new" Yachts LP 'Missing in Action - The Lost Tapes 1980-81', in latest Vive Le Rock mag.

An early line-up of Swing Out Sister?
No, me and my girlfriend Jackie ( #stilltogether ) on a jaunt to West Kirby with the late Con McConville c1985.

Yet more It's Immaterial...just been sent this (thanks Stephen Watson), from Sounds, November 5th 1983...
Re my last post, on the LP release of all the It’s Immaterial Peel sessions, I thought I’d better clarify whether I was actually ON the final session (by which time I’d left Itsy, & was writing songs for what would become 1st Christians album)
Found my diary from ‘85, entry for April 21st:
[7 am!!!]
Been enjoying listening to this album. It’s a new It's Immaterial album, all the four John Peel sessions that we did between 1981 and 1985…great to hear the development of the band from the first session (early days) to the final one (after “Driving Away from Home…” and first album had come out)…
Here you go…my actual one, £5 from a car boot sale c2001.
Sounds amazing.
What, with an arthritic hip and these knees?
No, it’s a recent acquisition…
But seem to remember using a bit of my beloved Phillicorda across the albums
