A watercolour drawing of St Paul's Cathedral framed on both sides by the buildings on Ludgate Hill
Another London sketch dug out of a portfolio, done on a Sunday in 1992 sitting in a doorway on Ludgate Hill looking up to St Paul's. I found another St Paul's drawing where the paper has deteriorated but this one has survived OK.

For the love of books, please don't put clear sleeves on your books' dust jackets without wiping off the dust and the sticker residue π©
Wipe the book gently with 70% rubbing alcohol if the cover is glossy, or dust thoroughly if it has a papery finish.
Otherwise you're basically begging for foxing.

Biggest writing challenge I've had to overcome last few years is regaining confidence in myself: confidence that I can fix shitty series of first attempts. I started last book over like 50 times. This one,I'm keeping scene bones I know are good and going over it again, and again, til it gets clearer

Writing Tip:
Good writing takes time. Time takes patience. And patience is hard when you've been writing the same thing for ages and just want to finish it. This is one of the reasons that endings get rushed, greatly decreasing the quality. Have patience.

A composite of the covers for the Fleet and Fabricant trilogy.
From left to right:
A Quiet Universe, featuring a figure in a space suit standing in knee-deep water, looking into the distance, where a vast moon looms beyond thick mist, and alien tendrils rise from the sea.
A Sea of Silence, featuring a haggard mechanical woman slumped in a battered armchair with a hatchet dangling from her hand, surrounded by a crimson sea.
A Mask for the Sun, featuring a mechanical woman in rugged clothing (except for the anime T-shirt) falling head-first and reaching out for something beneath her, silhouetted against a solar eclipse.

I posted about this one before, but it did end up as the second favorite book I read in 2025 so Iβm sharing it one more time.
I like John Irving to begin with but The Hotel New Hampshire covered it all for me. Just the right amount of dark humor that I like.

I am the executor of my parents' estate and I have mentioned, multiple times, to them that it would be a HUGE HELP if they would dump 20 pounds of the wheat they bought in 1980 every week into their green bin.
Do they listen? No.

This is genuinely apropos of nothing, just a thought that occurred to me, but a gentle reminder that body positivity in cishet romance should apply to male characters too!

I sent in my edits for a story I sold a while back but which will only be coming out next year.
It was very strange rereading a piece I clearly wrote in the immediate aftermath of my mother's death.
