Texas Archaeology Friends: If you've worked much with the Archaeology Division of the Texas Historical Commission over the years, you know the inimitable Bill Pierson. I learned a few days ago that Bill passed away after several years of declining health. Bill was, I believe, the most valued member on any field crew, being the one guy on the team who could build a makeshift barbecue pit or recover lost data from a dodgy magnetometer with equal skill and expertise. A celebration of Bill Pierson will be held on Saturday, March 21, beginning at 2 p.m. at Poodie's Roadhouse, 22308 State Highway 71 W, Spicewood, TX, United States, 78669, about midway between Austin and Marble Falls. Godspeed, Bill!

The idea is that the Iranians won’t attack a Chinese crewed/owned ship. It’s an interesting theory, but Very Bad Outcomes if they are wrong. It’s a risky gamble.
