Raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis and calling for help (1/2) I’m not well known in the furry fandom, but I’ve always loved to be a part of it. Sadly, recent events have put me in a very dark place and I feel the need to make this very personal post. I was born with a rare disease called Cystic Fibrosis (CF). A defective gene affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices, which causes disordered processes in the body and ultimately irreparable damage to the organs. Usually, the lungs and the digestive tract are affected most severely. Although there have been some improvements in treating this disease, it is still incurable and leads to a significantly shortened life-expectancy. In later stages of the disease often only organ transplantations (lungs, liver, kidney) can extend life for a couple of more years. Having to live with CF is a cruel fate that comes with the need to adhere to and endure strict therapy plans (from early childhood on), growing limitations and relinquishment and the devastating awareness of the inexorable progression of the disease and its horrible terminal stage. I’ve been fighting this disease all my life, but now it seems I’m starting to run out of options. I will elaborate on my personal situation in the next part of my post, but I want to use this one first to raise awareness on CF and maybe encourage you to donate – hoping that further research may lead to a cure someday or at least make the lives of other CF patients easier and longer in the future. Bei uns im Bürogebäude gibt es unten zwei einzelne Toiletten, da habe ich halt die Frauentoilette am Anfang genutzt. War auch immer nicht so doll, aber in dem Fall wegen den (männlichen) Verkäufern von dem Hausbauer Büro. Die haben auch mit Kunden auf dem Klo telefoniert und so. Bäh.
