Prolonging dependence on oil & gas is the problem. It's been the policy for a century. It's the reason we're not laughing atm, like countries that are already ahead of the game.
But the other lesson we must learn is not to privatise the supply. It must be owned by the public, local community or home owner. Privatisation of nationally strategic infrastructure & energy leaves the country hostage to capitalist profiteering.
