I hated my replacement wheelchair at first. But then I realised the metal rims stick out further than my old one and are great for scratching the paint off of any cars and vans parked across a pavement I'm using. Had it a month and racked up 3 cars and 4 works vans. 4.5 stars.
We had a Commodore 64, which had its own dedicated tape player.
You didn't miss much with the loading times, which were painfully slow, especially for a kid. The trade-off was the games were a fraction of the price of floppy or cartridge based games.
I remember these exclusively used to load games to the ZX Spectrum computer when I was quite young.
No doubt they were more versatile, but that was the only context I've ever seen them.
Reminds me of that Rory Sutherland concept of "Dishwasher Darwinism", which is that everything in his home goes in dishwasher, and everything that survives is then, by default, dishwasher safe.
