An Open Letter from UCLA Jewish Faculty and Staff Opposing the DOJ’s Title VII Lawsuit Against UCLA
77 signatories (below) as of March 6, 10:21pm
Dear Attorney General Bondi, Assistant Attorney Gene...
Jewish faculty, students, staff at UCLA petition DoJ, calling out lack of actual concern with anti-semitism. The letter is illuminating, calling out the ways actual anti-Semitism against students against genocide has not been punished or even investigated

The war on Iran do not benefit US workers. As much as I wish the theocratic regime dissolved, the restoration of democracy against Shahs and mullahs will not come through carpet bombing my family in Tehran. Nor will it come by selling arms/ letting Israel take over S Lebanon+ west bank of Palestine.

AFL-CIO
AMERICA'S UNIONS
MARCH 6, 2026
As the attacks by the U.S. and Israel on Iran expand and escalate conflict across the region, the AFL-CIO calls for:
• An end to the conflict, de-escalation by all parties and a commitment to peace, the safety for workers and our service men and women currently on the frontlines of the conflict;
• Strict respect for international law, the United Nations Charter and the US Constitution that call for the people's voice through Congress in any war authorization, including through the War Powers Resolution;
• A renewed commitment to nuclear disarmament and global dialogue to ensure sustained security and economic stability in the region and around the world; and
• Full respect for freedom of association, freedom of expression and democratic rights for all workers across the region, including US federal workers.
The attacks on Iran have resulted in a conflict affecting people's lives across the region. War puts civilians, troops and union members in immediate danger and harms global economic security.

These examples matter to show my students that fighting bad tech can win. Community organizers fought hard to bring down the Chicago system.

Who’s Deciding Where the Bombs Drop in Iran? Maybe Not Even Humans.
Behind last week’s scrum between the Trump administration and Anthropic lies a deeper question of how warfare is conducted—and whether accountability even exists anymore.
Truly dystopic.
"we are witnessing the fullest expression of the most inhumane weapons of the century: Autonomous bombs and missiles. Their “autonomy” refers to fact that humans need not be in the loop in any meaningful way when deciding where to target or whether to launch such weapons."

OpenAI Steps Over a Red Line Anthropic Refused to Cross
After announcing a sudden and surprising deal with the Pentagon, OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman moved quickly this weekend to show he had won meaningful concessions from military leaders.
For a while, Anthropic was the Lyft to OpenAI's Uber -- a company with a better reputation but ultimately doing the same thing.
Now the line dividing the two leading AI firms glows bright red.

Two Sisters Died in Avalanche During Sierra Nevada Trek With Friends
My roommate from after college, Caroline (Clabaugh) Sekar,
passed away in the CA avalanche.
I knew Caroline as brilliantly generous, energetic, kind, funny and thoughtful, and obsessed with the mountains. I feel so lucky to have known her some.

Leakers Helped Destroy Deportation Case Against Tufts Student
This week, a judge finally dismissed the deporation case, which was built solely on an op-ed, against the Tufts doctoral student.
"leaks have revealed everything from ICE’s instruction that officers can enter homes without a warrant signed by a judge" "to its taking a page [from] Canary Mission’s to label people exercising the...right to protest...as 'domestic terrorists.'"

A new CA science foundation is a good step forward. Here's hoping that if it becomes reality, it really evaluates the "potential benefit to the health and well-being of the population, natural resources, and environment of the state" including in how it deals with intellectual property.

Police lie. All the time. In paperwork. To prosecutors. To the media. On the stand while testifying under oath. And even when in the very rare case their lies are exposed, they get to keep lying with few if any consequences. This pattern isn’t just limited to ICE.

As a former public defender who represented thousands of people, I can’t stop thinking about the contrast the Epstein files raise.
I watched 1000s face swift, devastating punishment for far less serious conduct — poor, marginalized, & presumed dangerous from the start.

So we've been using an Al agent since November to
answer leadership questions about metrics. It seemed
amazing at first fast answers, detailed explanations,
everyone loved it.
I just found out it's been hallucinating numbers this
entire time.
Our VP of sales made territory decisions based on
data that didn't exist. Our CFO showed the board a
deck with fake insights. The Al was just inventing
plausible sounding percentages.
I only caught it by accident when someone asked me
to double check something. I started digging, and
holy shit, it's bad.
lol this is gonna burst so fucking hard

Google is stifling anti-ICE speech in the workplace as 1,200 employees call on the company to cut ties
The search giant has made it harder and riskier to protest its policies. Workers are still fighting back. Plus: A community takes down a data center, QuitGPT, and the 5 worst Super Bowl AI ads.
At Google, speech critical of ICE is censored from the company's internal platform, employees who speak out are served with warnings, and leadership refuses to acknowledge a petition that's now gotten 1,200 employee signatures.
Inside the worker-led push to get ICE out of Google:
