Paris La Mont was already a part of the Easy Star family, so when he came to us with the TAMPA RIDDIM project, we jumped at the chance to put it out. Released in three batches starting with Mortimer's scorcher "Burn It To The Ground," the riddim quickly became one of the standouts of 2025.

For this one, John Brown's Body took an old song from their earliest recordings, which had only been released as a dub version, and wrote new lyrics. They re-recorded and we had one of the first examples of a dub becoming a vocal version, as opposed to the other way around.

Sly Dunbar was a truly foundational drummer and producer in Jamaican music, and his influence, along with that of his longtime partner Robbie Shakespeare, reached far beyond the reggae world. Thank you for the music, Sly, and Rest in Power.
