Does endemic not imply a steady state?
What about the giant waves of covid that we get, and the endless mutation of it, thanks to having billions of hosts, makes it endemic?
Did the largest health organization in the world declare it endemic?
Then tell me why you think *you* can declare it endemic

How are you getting those numbers when there is barely any testing for covid, even in hospitals?
Do you know the percentage of asymptomatic infections?
If you knew some of these things you would clearly not be calling it endemic.

Did the WHO or any other public health agency, such as they are, declare SARS-Cov2 endemic? If I missed it, please let me know.

Why anyone believes this or listens to this? I have no idea.
Even WHO says we're in PANdemic, not endemic stage.
We get at least 2 major waves of covid every year that infect millions - wastewater testing shows this clearly.
There's other metrics, but you don't really care.

Covid vaccines are not good at reducing transmission.
And their protective effects last for maybe three months if you're lucky.

The number of fake liberals on here, making fun of people trying to warn about long COVID makes Twitter look like a playground.
Y'all can all f*ck off.
You may not like that Long Covid is a Thing, and clearly no one in your life would feel comfortable telling you they had it because you're awful.

Jesus christ you folks love to punch down on people, don't you.
There's hundreds of thousands of articles and research about the damage that covid does, but y'all want to keep pretending.
You could just ignore this, but no, you have to make fun of people just trying not to get sicker. F*ck off.

People can have different political opinions about immigration policy. Political differences are fine, healthy for a democracy.
But if youβre okay with this, thatβs not a political opinion. That is a moral failing.

Negotiating With Terrorists, Unsuccessfully
How to lose ideological battles by believing in nothing.
America's most prestigious universities fundamentally believe in nothing except themselves. Their capacity to lose ideological battles is therefore infinite.

Another reminder:
Respiratory infections spread mainly through the air. Thatβs why they affect the lungs.
Masks, worn correctly and consistently, reduce the spread of respiratory infections.
Respirators work better than masks.
Washing hands isnβt wrong, but it wonβt stop airborne transmission.

Catherine G. Wolf (right) with her family.
Wolf lived 22 years with ALS, which kills most patients in five years. During her two-decade fight with that costly disease, she also battled with the medical bureaucracy. This led her to become a staunch advocate for Medicare-for-All. She died on Feb. 7, 2018, at age 70. /end

Helen, you have piqued my interest in philosophy, which is saying something. Your posts have brought me joy (minus the bad news ones, like this).
May you find peace in your time remaining. Many hugs to you.

"During the pandemic"
"During lockdowns"
"Back in Covid times"
"Covid is over"

We are likely to hear lots of murmurous about how this child died not of measles, but as pneumonia or lung disease.
(This is the same thing we heard during Covid, when people claimed that deaths were βwith Covidβ, not βfrom Covidβ)
To be clear: MEASLES CAUSES PNEUMONIA, sepsis, & lung disease.

I think the most impactful advice Irv Weissman ever gave me was that I have to be able to explain my science in basic English. That it's not about "dumbing it down" it's about understanding so clearly in your own mind that you can explain it clearly and simply in a common language, free of jargon.

Ive become colleagues and friends with many amazing scientists and doctors since the pandemic started. They have to spend way more time trying to hold their colleagues to account who have published inaccurate research and said things that arenβt true than arguing with antivaxxers.

The big scandal that, on its face, is often completely dismissed by βscience believersβ is there was a decision to treat the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 as something addressed with gappy masks, curtains and acrylic sneeze guards. Because addressing how it transmits, through the air, was impractical
