I'm not really plugged into the wider Paleo media scene, so I'm sure those more in the know have a list of nitpicks ready to go, but as someone who grew up loving these creatures I found this show to be quite entertaining, educational, and pretty affecting.

There's a sort of pop-cultural duality to Dinosaurs, as either simply ancient animals or as nearly-alien monsters, and I think this show hits a good balance. Even when presented accurately, some animals are just freaky and sometimes nature is a scary thing.

It's also well directed, CGI creatures means you can set up shots that would have been hard or outright impossible to pull off in a normal nature documentary, which only makes the storytelling more effective.

Watched The Dinosaurs on Netflix. As a former Dino kid I really had a great time with it. There's a nice blend of fresh faces and old favorites, realized with some pretty sweet CGI. There's plenty of shots that are just fantastically photorealistic.

I think Zearth has a pretty neat design. Even though he's meant to look different from the traditional Ultraman look, he ends up being an interesting midpoint between the Showa and Heisei design philosophies.

Like OG Man, he was just sorta retconned into the M78 timeline we know, with most of the important stuff being built out from his successors. We hardly know anything about him, but he'll show up to help out the new guys when he's needed.

Plus he's not above some identity theft.

For all the visual cues he takes from Ultraseven, his characterization and where he ended up in the larger franchise does make Max feel way more like OG Ultraman. He's just a guy who fused with a human, hardly elaborated, and hasn't really been connected to much else.

The whole ZEZTZ twist/reveal is so nuts that I think I spent most of the newest episode in disbelief that it's actually happening. I liked this show before, but it's been on an incredible run lately.

I like most Ultraman designs, but I don't think many can quite reach the heights of Tiga. Nearly every time I see it,I'm struck by how well it works, how complete it feels. It's incredibly unique and new while still feeling unmistakably Ultraman. Maruyama killed it.

To the unititated, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters might seem like a show about Godzilla. However if you actually watch it, you'll soon discover it's really about Lee Shaw trying to get himself killed across time and space.

Also infidelity.

Someone needs to hook Keiko up with one of those Captain America lists.

It is genuinely the one reason I use my PS5 for most media stuff. Which does feel like some anecdotal salt being rubbed into the Xbox One's wound.

Audio control for headphones on Xbox sucks so bad. You get like 10 notches to choose from, and none of them manage to hit right for watching most things. Either too quiet or too loud.

The whole "mercenary gives themselves up to cybernetic augments as a means to escape debt slavery while infiltrating a hostile world and skirmishing with the government at the behest of different factions and megacorps" bit of Marathon really reminds me of AC6 and it kinda rules.

I've had a couple really cool squads too, fun to hear what people are thinking out there in the wild, and we've managed to have some really clutch plays despite being green.

The Marathon hype (and marketing) got me, I wanted to try it again but the Server Slam ended...so now we're here, and honestly I think it's starting to click. For someone who loves collecting digital trinkets, Marathon is a horror game.
