Thanks @georgegilbert.bsky.social for the invitation to speak at Southampton today. It was good to have the chance to talk Armenia and histories of displacement, and to share some of the images Iβve found during the years Iβve been researching this topic.

Patterns of Prejudice βͺ@pop-jrnl.bsky.socialβ¬ is an excellent publication and now has a Bluesky presence.
It was all he needed. For all Thompsonβs professed materialism, he never wavered in his conviction that history is not just a record of action but a means of exchange, a place of meeting: deep underneath the earth we walk on, in places the powerful never consider and the cynics can never reach, course underground rivers of struggle, friendship, justice, love. And that there are times in history when βthe stored energies of the dead flow back into the livingβ, when those forgotten rivers burst to earth. Thompson didnβt know if he was living in such time. But the hour was late. For four decades heβd fought and lost. The treaties had been abrogated; the powers were gearing for war β a war, many analysts thought, that would come quickly, and leave nothing behind. He had to try.
Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of E.P. Thompson's death.
An excuse to read about his life and refusal to compromise with 'the civilisation of death'.

Welcome to my new followers. All suggestions for the below s/p welcome.
A lot in here I found very interesting - shows understanding far beyond most of what we are presented with in typical journalism. Thanks for writing.
Today's "Anti-War March" in Berlin, led by Navalnaya, Kara-Murza & Yashin seems an appropiate day to re-publish my essay on why the West and in particular Germany should take a closer look at the self-proclaimed leaders of the Russian opposition in English:
I'd be glad to be added, thanks
Will do
Seems apt
