Still proud of what I was able to do for my first game project with learning to code and make art but boy that bee is ugly and the controls are awful.
Iโll be trying to salvage Antonio and bits of Antfort but the rest will probably get replaced.

I was replaying the old Beeknighted demo to see what parts I can salvage and wow thereโs not much.
Iโm really glad I decided to restart from scratch because Iโm astounded players were as kind about the controls as they were. Iโve learned so much and the old code is so bad.

Itโs going to be a few weeks of less attractive updates for Beeknighted. Iโve been fixing bugs and Iโll be focusing on the โjuiceโ for a bit, facial expressions, particles, sounds, and such, along with prototyping some areas. Started composing a couple tracks too.

Like Iโm the kind of control freak that refuses to use pretty much any premade assets to the point where Iโm considering trying to make even my own fonts. I compose music on paper and do concept art/level design in mspaint scribbles. No way Iโm getting near genslop.

Iโm considering making one of those splash screens for my games that says something like โ100% human made, no AI.โ I kind of loathe the thought of even having to but the infection is so widespread that I want it clear that everything you see and hear is my own mediocrity, not generative excrement.

Gad damn thatโs actually just the Zera demo with ugly color alterations and an AI cover isnโt it. Nintendo really doing their due diligence on that one. I imagine that means everything theyโve โpublishedโ is stolen. Hopefully thereโs a recourse for you, thatโs terrifying

I started greyboxing the beehive a few days ago and discovered a horrible issue with how placing the bee at a position other than 0,0 and 0 rotation broke the whole controller. Spent the last couple days fixing that dumb global/local coords mistake but now weโre good.

Iโve been making a bunch of small tweaks to things in the Beeknighted prototype. Adjusting animations, playing with speeds and timings, fixing bugs as I discover them. Iโve got strafing implemented now though it still needs work. All basic attacks are in and I started ui/menus. Video update soon.

Metroid Prime 4 thoughts: when itโs being MP, itโs very good-great. When itโs doing anything else, itโs middling. Thereโs about 5-8 hours of really great game packed into a 20-30 hour playtime. The desert would have been 100% ok if the crystal grind wasnโt mandatory and it was treated like SotC.

Basic movement including walking, running, jumping, flying, crawling, and dashing have all been re-implemented. That leaves strafing, swimming, climbing and a few other odd states left before I can begin working on combat and items. Video update soon.
