Iran has allowed some Indian vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, saying it does not want other countries to suffer, while blocking ships linked to nations it considers hostile.

BuzzFeed dying after chasing profits into a sinkhole vs. Gawker getting killed for challenging entrenched power is the perfect conclusion to the 2010s content philosophy wars.

a chart showing high new EV sales (close to 100% for 2025) but slow change in usage, registration and emissions drops
Norway is at ~100% EVs for new sales, but 7 out of every 10km driven in 2024 was reliant on fossil fuels. Cars stick around for decades - so change is slow.
Protecting ppl from fossil fuel crises means EVs, yes, but *fast deep cuts* means huge $$ in public and active transport. Speed matters!
And mind you, Pelosi is out. We keep trying to figure out who the Party leader is in absence of a President and the answer should be Jeffries. It would be Pelosi if she was still around. It should be a party norm to anoint the Leader in the House since that body is more democratic than the Senate.
I'm worried that the Congressional Black Caucus is not investing in the future of the caucus or the party. And it'll get significantly worse once the Supreme Court forces them out of safe seats. No way Clyburn takes a leadership position under Speaker Jeffries for just one term...
"The signature policy of the New Deal wasn't really Social Security. It was the payroll tax that funded Social Security ...If you want a broad set of middle class benefits, you need a broad-based middle class tax." Sharp @jamellebouie.net response to Dem tax plans. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXZv...
So @josephcox.bsky.social watched over six hours of this deposition featuring DOGE staffer Justin Fox who, when asked how he defined βDEIβ kept saying he needed to refer to the EO.

CARTOON OF THE DAY
(From @andertoon.bsky.social )
While Democrats almost universally oppose Trumpβs War in Iran, many of them are considering voting for a bill to fund the war.
This would be a catastrophic mistake.
Hereβs why: messagebox.substack.com/p/no-democra...
On principle, the party should want it's leadership to be close to the people and that's more true for Jeffries in the House than it is Schumer in the Senate. We should make that a norm in this party same as when we have a sitting President in office.
If Pelosi was the Minority Leader than I don't think Democrats would be struggling to understand who's leading the opposition right now.
@staceyabrams.com should be DNC Chair
Pres. Obama at the Jackson service:
"We are living in a time when it can be hard to hope. Each day, we wake up to some new assault on our democratic institutions."
"If we don't step up, no one else will. How fortunate we were that Jesse Jackson answered that call. What a great debt we owe to him."
Is the idea that social justice can't garner the attention that capitalism craves? I'm of two minds about it but I think people actually want authentic and quality content. And the Internet is finally in a place where people will pay for it. I worry more about news sourcing than I do outlets.
No problem, it's free but premium subscription go from $12 to $22 depending on which option you choose. They keep it updated and add new features occasionally so I pay for the subscription. It's got a lot of features so give yourself some time to learn it.

The AI lobby bought its first seat in Congress today.
After flooding #NC04 with nearly $2 million in ads, @nidaallam.bsky.social narrowly lost her primary.
Nida's exactly the type of leader voters are demanding, but the establishment will always work overtime to protect corporate power.
Jeffries: "Article 1 of the Constitution provides Congress with the sole authority to declare war. Framers made that decision b/c they were concerned about kings plunging their people into unnecessary wars to pillage resources of others for the benefit of a tyrant and his family. Sound familiar?"
The question is, under this supreme court... What stops TX from routinely doing midyear gerrymanders til they finally "get it right"?
I just heard somebody say something that I thought was only in my head... Well, they "kinda" said it... Talerico is TX take on Warnock. Maybe some weird combination of Warnock and Ossoff if only because he's white. Warnock/Ossoff are authentic to GA and ATL and maybe Talerico is the same for TX?
Why do I never see @mehdirhasan.bsky.social and Marc Lamont Hill together? Am I missing something about that relationship because I would love to see these two do a show.
She's positioned well to learn from that and still have a successful career in politics. I don't think there's any value to come out of this from folks being cynical or trying to burn the house down. No matter how frustrating it may be, you will never shame someone into voting for your candidate.
I'm disappointed in how quickly people rebounded to knee-jerk racist tropes in the Texas Senate race... I'll go so far as to say that I don't believe Talerico supporters were the biggest perpetrators of that. A black woman can win the primary and the general. Jasmine's campaign has major flaws.
Israelβs latest bombardment of Beirut has inflicted heavy damage on civilian infrastructure, after strikes targeted a hotel in the suburbs and at least five residential buildings in the southern part of the city.
