Or is it to aid sale of tescan SEMs in Japan?

I see @shimadzuuk.bsky.social have taken over tescan, will this lead to increased marketing and potentially sales of Shimadzu EPMA in Europe and UK? I don't think there is currently any.

How Heat Pumps & Geo-exchange will help Princeton University decarbonize YouTube video by Office of Sustainability at Princeton University

Universities provide an interesting testbed for adopting innovative technologies. Here is Princeton using what appears to be a very large ground source heat pump with 2,000 (!) boreholes.

Lithospheric mantle cooling recorded by zoned diamonds: forward modelling the nitrogen aggregation thermometer Continental growth, buoyancy and stability are key processes in the evolution of the Earth and are governed by temperature. To constrain the thermal h…

Great to hear Matt Wincott talking about his paper and thesis work, looking at calculating with models temperatures and cooling rates from zoned diamonds, which is pretty cool, and involved some nice CL images from SEM and some EPMA

Lifetime achievement | Alumni | University of Bristol

I’m so touched to be recognised by the @bristoluni.bsky.social with their 2026 Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award.

The picture of me as an undergraduate in the early 1980s presents a vivid reminder of just how long I’ve been involved with this work!

A free, open-source method for automated mapping of quantitative mineralogy from energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy scans of rock thin sections Abstract. Quantitative mapping of minerals in rock thin sections delivers data on mineral abundance, size, and spatial arrangement that are useful for many geoscience and engineering disciplines. Alth...

This looks interesting always nice to use free open source programs where possible and rapid elemental mapping of thin sections is now possible
