i don’t know exactly how to articulate it but like, we’re absolutely at war yet it doesn’t feel like it because the people leading it are so fucking stupid so the typical climate of seriousness is missing? if that makes sense?

I didn't know Iranian-backed militias had this capability, I guess it's not surprising. I feel like, in some ways, this is the largest escalation since this war began.
How long before we are seeing videos of U.S. soldiers killed circulate on social media? How will the U.S. public react to that?
There is a video floating around of PMF elements attacking Camp Victory in Iraq with an FPV Drone. I'm not going to share the video, but there's something shocking about seeing this kind of operation on a U.S. base.
Zelensky deserves sainthood for having to put up with this constant bullshit.
Trump to NBC: "Strikes on Kharg Island totally demolished most of the island, BUT WE MAY HIT IT A FEW MORE TIMES JUST FOR FUN."
Also. Trump seems to be in a pretty dangerous mental state. I've said this before; when the thing he says will happen doesn't happen, that's when he starts talking about injecting bleach and nuking hurricanes.
Worth noting that he's never been in this position regarding military conflict before.
Lol. Ruin your relationship with every country on the planet and then have the gall to ask them to send their citizens to die so you can save face.
Trump says securing the Strait of Hormuz will be a "team effort"
Literally straight out of the authoritarian playbook.
When he's 'hopeful' for something to happen, it means he knows its not going to.
He's exhausting all options before he's forced to do the inevitable; make a "deal" with Iran OR boots on the ground (and it will be more than 5000 soldiers).
I know that's obvious, but it's worth stating because it tells me that HE KNOWS this isn't a problem that's going to go away.
Here's Trump from July 1st, 2020:
"I think we are going to be very good with the coronavirus. I think that, at some point, that’s going to sort of just disappear, I hope."
Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe. We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are. Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated. In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water. One way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE! President DONALD J. TRUMP
"Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area..."
He's trying to pass the "decades long" part of his war onto others.
Ah yes, China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others - the Coalition of the Unwilling.
Amid reports of air raid sirens at Incirlik airbase in Turkey, a ballistic missile appears to have been filmed flying overhead in the area
🇮🇷 Claimed as Iranian kamikaze drones hit a French military base near Erbil Airport in northern Iraq, wounding six French soldiers.
I still think the Trump admin is looking for their Reichstag Fire before midterms, particularly if the SAVE Act fails to pass.
Amidst everything else there is still an obvious attempt at an authoritarian takeover.
it’s completely fucking insane that the *treasury secretary* is out here pretending to give military briefings, and in a normal administration, he’d get fired for this

Because everything is fine.
"violently"
Trump officials moving onto military bases is a ridiculous, absolutely inappropriate thing, and the NYT story that credulously credited claimed threats as justifying such a move is also ridiculous.
He can delude himself that tariffs work, he could have nuked the hurricane, he deserved the peace prize, Greenland will submit, he's stopped 900 wars, he won the 2020 election etc...
I don't know if there is a good Trumpian comparison to this Iran war gaff. He can't delude his way out of this.
"Any time I want it to end, it will end," Trump said during the five-minute call.

Coupling this with what he said earlier today about a "couple week" excursion. It appears that Trump thinks he can decide this war is over by this weekend.
In these times I find solace in the words of the American President from Monday:
"Donald Trump said the war against Iran was 'very complete, pretty much' as he declared there was 'nothing left in a military sense' in the country."
Video from a Chinese cargo ship which shows an Iranian Shahed-136 striking an oil tank at the Port of Salalh in Oman.
IDF has begun a wave of strikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Israeli official to News 14: A decision is expected to be made soon - we are going all the way against Hezbollah. In addition - an attack on national infrastructure in Lebanon is being considered; everything is on the table.
