Crikey. If the government is going to use the argument "because we've not been raped," they should have been absolutely 100% sure it wasn't going to come back to bite them. It looks - and is - absolutely awful.
Wow. What a brave woman. I’ve not been aware of her before, and have no idea where she stands on other issues, but that took real guts in the face of Labour using victims of sexual assault as a shield against their appalling proposals.
Behind Keir Starmer's white knighting and bragging his record as DPP is appalling.
He was a hanging judge with his night courts after the riots. His CPS reforms effectively deciminalised rape.
He strips rights from trans women and girls, now stripping jury trials which impacts everyone inc women.
It is incredibly sad that she has been forced to waive her anonymity in order to have a voice because her own party have weaponised their own cost cutting as protecting women and girls.
Fucking grim.
🚨 WATCH: Labour MP Charlotte Nichols reveals she was raped as an MP as she opposes the jury trial reforms
"I waited 1,088 days to go to court. We've been told [by the Government] that if we have concerns about this Bill, it's because we've not been raped"
You're so cool Bluesky banned Bill Kezos because Singal told them to!
an important thing to keep in mind with the bsky mods is that they're all bay area TESCREAL accelerationists who are in a polycule with Aella and Richard Hanania
Tamer Nahed 𓂆🇵🇸 @Tamer_Alnoaizy BlueSky is one of the worst platforms I have ever dealt with. Within seconds of creating a second account, after my first one was shut down just two days after it was created, my account was closed again. This happened despite the fact that I hadn’t posted anything or followed anyone. I was only in the process of adding a profile photo, yet I received an email claiming that my account was “spam” and that it was “causing harm.” What kind of logic is this? The painful truth is that the account was shut down the moment it became clear it was created from inside Gaza. It seems we are no longer allowed to write or speak about what is happening to us here. They are not afraid of content itself, but of our voices and the reality we carry with us. Millions are spent to silence these voices and to erase the truth. I am exhausted by this platform and by how our photos and videos, which document real suffering, are treated as “violations of community standards,” as if pain itself has become a crime. What is happening is not simple moderation or policy enforcement. It is an attempt to erase our existence and bury the truth. And honestly, this is shameful and unbearably painful. [the original poster has included two screenshots showing the email from bluesky admin informing him that his account has been taken down for being 'spammy, inauthentic or disruptive to users'. it's the standard boilerplate you get when they take moderation action.] 2:45 PM · Feb 10, 2026 https://twitter.com/Tamer_Alnoaizy/status/2021234178461704409
palestinian journalist posting on twitter that his bluesky account was immediately taken down purely because he was in gaza. all palestinian accounts are assumed to be spam.
Well, considering he was recruited, advised and consulted by the same Bernie adjacent people that did the same for Fetterman to create a populist candidate gullible people would fan out over, while hiding and lying about things, it’s not surprising. 🧵👇 bsky.app/profile/maud...
I’ll leave for later why reporters didn’t fact-check - there’s an ugly story there too. But the urgent issue is, Platner would be crushed in the general. It's best to lance the boil now. Here’s the document, sourced and Wikipedia-ready. You should read it. The NRSC sure will. 11/
Just imagine what Collins can do with this. Of course DoD would FedEx her Platner’s service record the moment she asked. Imagine the ads she can make, mocking his little-boy lies and excuses. NRSC staffers have been following this account, like sharks. 10/
But the tattoos alone are enough. Like Elon Musk, Platner lies when cornered; he can’t admit fault or take responsibility. He gave his staff a script about his Nazi symbol to recite: “He did not know the meaning at the time and covered it once he learned..” That’s a lie. 9/
There’s a lot more, or course; Platner’s stories are full of lies and gaps. We don’t know who got him to run - the names are all secret. We don’t know what he did in 2017, a black hole after he dropped out of college, before he signed with Constellis. A family friend said “He was in rough shape” 8/
Platner’s former campaign team know something’s wrong - they all quit. They know he would lose in the general election. Janet Mills needs to make him lose in the primary instead. And she can, just by demanding his records. He won’t show them - he can’t. Confront him with that. 7/
Why didn’t you know this? Platner lies in reporters’ faces but no one fact-checks him. When his Nazi tattoo was first reported, he ran to Tommy Vietor’s podcast for damage control. He told his false leaving-the-Marines story; Vietor laughed with him. No hard questions for your buddies. 6/
This thread is not about whether Platner is a Nazi. It’s about how he lies like a toddler when he’s cornered. And that’s enough. He’s not electable, and Susan Collins knows it. You can too, if you can read this thread, or this 18-page document. 2/
Let’s talk about Graham Platner’s Big Lie, finally. In 2009, at the height of the Gulf War, the Marines barred him from active duty. Platner claims it was his forearm tattoos. But his one forbidden tattoo was the Nazi symbol on his chest. He knew - and he left the Marines rather than give it up. 1/
I think Bush v Gore was where the train went off the rails for real. Then 9/11.
hole in the ozone layer has been healing! that's something! and acid rain isn't as much of a concern anymore either.
A Christmas wreath in the shape of a peace sign was deliberately vandalized several times in Colorado during that time.
You could get attacked on the street for doing a peace sign.
People forgot about this all too soon.
in a way it's actually kind of remarkable how much cultural capital conservatives have set on fire since W Bush. 2001-2005-ish, you even sneezed the wrong way, you were accused of being unpatriotic. leftism was, at best, a punchline. trumpism isn't nearly as encompassing, just more dangerous.
This along with how there was a distinctive shift: environmentalists and environmentalism was seen as being anti-human and anti-progress thus environmentalists were shown as either villains or plain insane. The same was true of feminists/feminism, artists and even multi-cultural stuff.
The kids don't know about the Amanda Bynes poster hastily airbrushed to avoid implying she endorsed peace
I vividly remember that Bernie Sanders sort of first came onto my generation's radar in college when he was that lone 99-1 vote against the war. like the Dem moratorium on criticizing it back then was all-encompassing. maybe some of them disagreed quietly but no one was gonna say it
Honestly I think the leadup to the Iraq war was worse than all this because the buy-in was so all-encompassing. I keep asking myself how anyone could fall for it again but the thing is, they mostly haven't
