Over a lifetime-scale horizon, demurrage plus the 1 CRC/hour issuance creates a saturation effect:
The Circles whitepaper notes that accounts reach a maximum of ~120,804 CRC after creating for about 80 years.
4/ What daily burn implies for you?
➡️ Holding CRC long-term has a carrying cost.
➡️ Spending or using CRC sooner reduces future burn because you’re not holding it as long.
➡️ Burn is automatic and time-based, so you don’t need to claim, approve, or trigger it.
3/ What does demurrage mean?
Demurrage is a monetary concept often associated with the economist Silvio Gesell. Historically, it’s been discussed as a way to discourage hoarding and encourage circulation.
Circles uses demurrage a bit differently: it’s paired with universal, ongoing issuance.
