4. This process is a journey, which often requires upskilling and a mindset change within our teams. What KSAOs are needed to measure impact? I.e., evidence based approaches for transfer of learning, research methodologies, data analysis skills, etc...
3. It might be difficult to ascertain the impact on some long-term outcomes & the type of analysis needed might not be possible to do or "worth the squeeze" due to current capabilities/appetite. Identify what outcomes are most important & how to measure impact based on your capabilities/constraints.
2. We need to be methodical and intentional about understanding how our strategies impact long-term outcomes.Β How do our programs and initiatives impact short, medium, and long-term outcomes? What is our theory of change?Β How do long-term outcomes inform our program design?
1. It's important to define what we mean by long-term impact. What are the actual long-term outcomes that we should help drive through learning strategies?
I had the honor of co-facilitating a session at the CLO Exchange in San Diego with Trish Vassar, VP of Global Learning and Development for the Coca Cola company, on measuring the long-term impact of learning strategies.

In HR, we say we must "learn about the business." Although necessary, it's insufficient. The key is being able to understand the connection between HR and the business. Focus instead on "learning how to drive business outcomes thru HR practices." Business acumen is only part of it.
