Oh I see. I grew up technically protestant, baptized but not in a family that went to church so it didn’t affect me very much. Come to think of it, my dad’s books are what influenced my love for Japan, political philosophy and history. Books shape lives.
How did it go? I teach 6 lessons back to back every day and it took me months to adapt to the pace. For the longest time it took me up to three hours per day just to prepare and do paperwork and send emails to everyone afterwards. I’m a lot more efficient now thankfully.
That’s certainly a heavy burden to place on the backs of children.
I painted a collection of art of the Assateague wild horses and this is the first one I’m sharing. I call it “Stewards of the Tide” and it’s a part of the first series I’ve added 24k gold to. Wild horses fascinate me and I hope they remain wild forever. Their resilience is amazing to me.

It’s nice though that you’ve managed to grow it to that point. Mine is hardly existent. It seems like a good idea to clear out those who regularly don’t open it.

Awe thank you 🥰 I think the thing I love the most about making these is that I can move on to the next idea as soon as it strikes me instead of feeling stuck for weeks or months on one painting.
A friend who has been very enthusiastic about my recent ballpoint renderings challenged me to draw a “raccoon getting up to something”.
I’m not sure if this is what she had in mind but it felt right to me. Ballpoint with some acrylic highlights in my sketchbook. Have a fantastic weekend!

Thank you my friend 🥰 My ankle decided to break while walking. I would encourage you to just sit with a ballpoint pen, shut off your brain & let your hand move. Use a reference. This took quite a while because the dimensions were a bit complicated to get right directly in pen. You can totally do it!
I broke my ankle yesterday & needed a distraction while I was waiting in the ER.
I had my sketchbook & a ballpoint pen so I decided to embrace the beginning of the year of the fire horse in the Chinese calendar.
I picked a heated scene to represent fire & a circular motion as a nod to yin & yang

My art studio is mostly done. I made faux rock walls from scratch. This is now. I’ll put the before pictures in the comments.
The furniture is from years of thrifting so the main expense was on paint & compound mix.
I feel so cozy & organized in there now. I can find my art supplies! 🥰
I’ve been confused for being Swiss, instead Swedish, by Canadians including by some of my in-laws spanning over two decades.
Seeing the Olympic Sweden-Canada, and now Switzerland-Canada, curling arguments makes me feel like I’m spectating some dysfunctional extended family get together. 😅

I wanted to give a fluffy texture a try with a ballpoint pen.
It feels so good to have an art routine again and it’s liberating in a loose rendering way to start sketching directly with ink.

Sketching with ink to force myself to embrace every line I put onto the paper without the option to erase or hyper focus on tiny details.
It’s quite refreshing but unnatural for me who usually don’t allow brush or pencil strokes in my art.
