Reading Comprehension Is Not a Skill
The Case for Vocabulary Instruction as the Engine of Comprehension
I know that everyone has a lot to think about right now, what with the Epstein files and the possibility of a world war. Still, if you are at all interested in teaching this is a really good article

I def thought that the jerkiness was the point. Not many 90s shows featured characters that were pleasant 🤷🏽♀️
Maybe Saved by the Bell...

FFS. Are we back to "pre-emptive defensive" aggression? I remember the last time a Republican president pulled this BS

I think I read it because I loved Jane Austen. I had seen Wuthering Heights described as a gothic romance. So I think I was expecting Tim Burton (it was the 90s) I remember thinking that "This is not romantic, everyone seems to hate each other." I was possibly too young to get the point

I haven't read it since I was a teenager. It confused me at the time, I had never before read a book where ALL the characters are unpleasant.
Might be worth revisiting

IDK- The main road through my town is in need of restructuring. The proposal included bike lanes and had *ten* fewer parking spaces. Locals lost their minds, you would have thought the DOT had proposed coming to each house and slashing tires. It was truly unhinged pearl clutching over bike lanes.

Former ICE agent: My first day training new cadets, I received secretive orders to teach them to violate the Constitution by entering homes without a warrant. I watched ICE cut classes that teach our legal system, firearms training, use of force, lawful arrests, and the limits of officers' authority

I can't say how much I hope Jasmine Crockett defeats James talirico in the election. I think she is the real deal, a very genuine defender of democracy. People like her offer the greatest hope that the US will not slide further into fascism.

Republicans are still trying to pass the SAVE Act—a bill that would make it harder to vote and disenfranchise millions of Americans. Join @redistrictingaction.org and tell your member of Congress to vote no: act.redistrictingaction.org/a/natl-saveact-cte

We're at the point where people are terrified of both Tylenol and witches. The promise of mRNA vaccines still exists, but the research funding seems to be out 😞

I thought that Bone's prejudice was supposed to be part of the character. A provincial Earth doctor, inadequately prepared for the challenges of space medicine and grumpy about it. As the seasons progress Bones grows as a person, shedding some of his bias and widening his views.

That is wonderful 😍 I am happy to hear that people have pregnancies that they enjoy. Children are precious, but I hated being pregnant and it was scary.

The only not-terrible part of pregnancy is the hope (NOT the guarantee) that you will get a baby. If you don't want a baby pregnancy is 100% terrible. Even for people who do want a baby pregnancy is a lot terrible 😔

I don't think people understand that if you shut down the government, ICE and CBP do NOT shut down. They're funded by supplemental money from the BBB. That's why dems are separating the DHS funding bill and asking for restrictions. I want them to demand a rescission of that funding or shut DHS down
