Drain pipes and guttering were often of cast iron but the stuff buried underground was often fired vitrified clay. I think the sea would have long washed that fragment clean.

I actually spied some blue sky over Ashford earlier.

Years ago, my home from work journey coincided with that of an old boy cycling back from the local quarry. 'Man on a bike' was a fixture for years. Kids still remember him.

I have only recently discovered Emily Dickinson's poetry. I'm so glad I have.
