Today is Young Carers Action Day.

I know just how challenging it can be to take on caring responsibilities so young, and I’m always struck by the way young carers keep going, when so much is asked of them.

They deserve far more support, we're fighting to make sure they get it.

Corridor care will continue for another three years – that’s not good enough It’s 3am in an A&E corridor. A patient lies on a trolley under harsh-strip lighting, their drip stand wedged beside a fire door.

'Corridor care is not an unfortunate by-product of a busy NHS. It is a national safety issue and should be treated like one.'

The Mandelson Files released today are damning.

The fact that Starmer appointed Peter Mandelson knowing that he had continued a relationship with Jeffery Epstein after his conviction in 2008 shows serious lack of judgement.

Tuesday 10th March 2026 Dear Lord Hendy, We write to express our shared concern about the removal of on-the-day refunds for walk-up rail tickets from 1st April, with exceptions for railway-caused disruption, and to ask you and your Department to reconsider. Removing the ability to obtain a refund from a walk-up ticket erodes one of the key advantages of these more expensive tickets, compared to cheaper and more restrictive advance purchase fares. This runs the risk of penalising individuals who buy their ticket in advance, in order to avoid last-minute panics on the day. Alongside this, the change is likely to have a significant impact on corporate bookings, which are rarely done on the day, and may be more prone to on-the-day cancellation of meetings due to changing business requirements. This change could also disproportionately affect elderly and vulnerable individuals, exemplified in a 2024 Department for Transport report: 'Ticket purchasing behaviour and preferences among rail passengers'. Crucially, respondents aged 66+ were more likely to purchase their tickets from a station ticket office (48%, compared with 12% for under 26, 19% for 26-45, and 30% for 46-65), which may imply less confidence with

An annual fraud saving of £40 million has been stated as the reason for this change. This represents 0.35% of 2025's total ticket revenue of £11.5 billion. Do you believe the inconvenience resulting from these fare conditions changes is proportionate in this context? And could you kindly provide the data source and methodology for calculating this figure? 2. What assessment has been made of the impact on revenue from people being deterred from rail travel because of the increased complexity this brings, and will the government publish any such assessment? 3. What alternatives were considered? For example, addressing the inconsistent on-board checking of tickets by railway staff, or strengthening the technology and processes for digital tickets to prevent refunds once tickets have been activated? 4. Given this erosion of consumer rights, will you take this opportunity to state that media reports of plans to reduce Delay Repay compensation eligibility from 15 minutes to 30 minutes are incorrect? 5. I would also like to thank her for th vork that she is doing to research where and why such inequalities in CPR provision exis NHS England runs training sessions on first aid, CPR and the use of defibrillators both in the community and in schools (as part of the Restart a Heart programme). This training should help to increase confidence in performing CPR on women. NHS England has trained over 35,800 adults and children in CPR and defibrillation in the last 13 years. In 2025, it trained over 2,100 people in these vital skills. The sessions are delivered by NHS England via its resuscitation team and community first responders. I hope this reply is helpful. We have a looming animal welfare crisis in our sheep flocks due to a lack of access to shearers, caused by the Home Office. When I raised these issues with DEFRA senior civil servants last week it was clear that they were not aware of the issue, let alone on top of it - they must get a grip of it.

Whilst we all recognise the issue of court backlogs, scrapping jury trials would not fix this, and would be a dangerous step in the wrong direction.
