This is the first strike during this war that they hit the inner circle of Beirut. Until now, this area has been considered a safe neighborhood and district. Many of the displaced built up their shelters nearby at the Corniche. Horrific. #Lebanon #Beirut

Back to teaching my class on Nation, Class, and Religion in the Middle East. This week's reading is on striking working women in Lebanon's tobacco industry in the 1940s. The author links anti-colonialism, class, nation, and gender in an interesting & productive way

Lots of interesting insights to gain from this passage in the book's introduction: How to approach the works of intellectuals from a critical perspective aiming to overcome metropole-periphery dichotomies?

LMU as a place of pluralistic discourse Statement on the Planned Event “The Targeting of the Palestinian Academia” at LMU Munich

The LMU announces the cancellation of a seminar on the topic "the targeting of Palestinian academia". The cancellation announcement is titled "LMU as a place of pluralistic discourse". Couldn't make this up.

Keine dt.

They've cancelled it while describing the uni as "a space for pluralistic discourse"...No contradiction at all...

Yeah I had the impression that there was much more nuance, depth, meticulous scholarship (but still accessible to readers without a deep understanding of Marx's ideas) in the Margins book than in this one. Maybe I have to give it another chance though..

I've found the precursor to this (Marx at the Margins) was written much better and a more in depth reading of Marx than this...how did you find it in comparison?
