Were those operational or capital improvements, btw?
Regardless, would be helpful during a budget crunch which *checks notes* we have at the moment.
For comparison: DC's contributions to Metro's capital improvements in FY2026 total $345 million.
If nothing else, what's going on now makes it clear that extremely swift changes in econ/ material circumstances, changes *which no one prepared for*, aren't the greatest. Even if the end result is a desired one.
As someone else pointed out, it's not just the cost of an individual's gas that's rising: it's the cost of the gas used by the truck that delivers food to that individual's grocery store.
Reading that, my takeaway is that SHA considers vehicle delay negative, but not that SHA considers the absence of vehicle delay to be safety. Would you please explain your thinking?
Facts.
Literally?
The plan for bus lanes on MD355 during this summer's Metro Red Line shutdown falls short of what riders need & deserve.
βͺοΈThe bottleneck areas (where bus lanes are most needed) don't have bus lanes.
βͺοΈThere is no plan to enforce bus-only lanes.
βͺοΈTraffic signals don't prioritize shuttle bus movement.
As opposed to the safety concerns when children are repeatedly hit & injured ?
I am ready for the catbus to happen.
The story is from a few years ago; hoping he's been up to more penny-farthing shenanigans I can find on another day.
Somerset House: 402 units / 802,731.8 sq ft (18.43 acres) = 21.8 units per acre.
Compare to Twinbrook Quarter: 453 units / 174,841 sq ft (4.01 acres) = 113.0 units per acre (and a Wegmans).
The Saks Fifth Avenue parking lot + store is 5.5 acres. So 120 units vs 622 units.
Thank you for resetting the MoCo housing Overton window to its proper specs.
Some days, you really need penny farthing content.

The parking lot alone could be 94 homes or 21. It's about 1/3 mile (or less!) from Friendship Heights Metro. What's better for the planet?
Somerset House has 405 homes, spread across 3 different multi family buildings; the entirety (incl grounds, tennis courts, etc) totals about 18 acres.
Somerset House: 22.5 homes / acre.
Oliver St, where singleplexes sit in a lot ~ 8,750 sq ft: 5 homes/ acre.
Walkscore: 88. Bikescore: 70
4.3 acres of asphalt.
Just for fun, can we compare the number of homes/acre at Somerset House, a set of 3 multifamily buildings almost directly west of that parking lot (across Wisconsin Ave) vs the homes/acre in the singleplex division to its east?
And the cost per sq ft?
A 4.3 acre surface parking lot (plus the 1.2 acre Saks Fifth Avenue store that is closing), 1000-2000 ft from the Friendship Heights Metro station.π
Some of its scale, some of its land use and transportation policy. It all sucks.
Transportation policy is jobs policy is economic development policy is transportation policy is transit policy.

Take your like and go home.
This disgusting shit doesnβt belong in American society.
And Republicans who support it donβt belong in Congress.
The laundry app is EPIC.
