I love a happy ending.

Yet another sea otter, floating on its back with its eyes closed, lifting a mussel to its mouth.
It was a pleasure to chat with scientists from @montereybayaquarium.org and write about these findings for BBC Wildlife magazine's website. Hanging out with the sea otters of Monterey was no hardship either.

A sea otter lying on its back eating a mussel, with another mussel on its stomach.
The number of sea otters along Monterey Peninsula has recently increased, exceeding the number scientists thought the environment could support.
I'm very much looking forward to reading this.
This is happening, right now.

The tail flukes of a humpback whale lifted high out of the water on a sunny day in Baja, Mexico.
Happy #WorldWhaleDay! Wind and rain in Hawaii made whale watching tricky this afternoon, so here's a humpback whale from earlier this month in Baja instead.
